How much is a 502 worth?
Found a local bbc used crate 502 with aluminum edlebrock heads other than that its stock. It came out of a old mans dually truck( supposedly has 36,000 miles ) and was totalled, engine didnt seem to be messed up. Will still fire, how much yall think its worth? The heads themself are pretty $$ i thought.. Any test i can run to make sure im not taking it in the rear?

compression and leak down for starters
ok Ill see if i cant barrow a leak down tester and go check it with a buddy of mine.. What about $$ if every thing seems good?

A leakdown test could be a little misleading depending on how the rings happen to be lined up in a particular cylinder.

With what you have told us I would guess $500. That is if it runs good. Might be less if it does not.

Show me where to buy an unhurt turn key 502 with aluminum heads for $500 and I will buy it right now.........sight unseen......lol

After talking to a few local guys some have told me it has had some problems. I guess being in a truck thats totalled could do that..

A good running stock 502/502 with low hours is worth about 3000 to 3500. Aluminum heads and aluminum intake manifold. Just my opinion.

if its a early 502 then its as bad as the 84 454 i had. but its a great base to build power. did it roll over or just get it?
