Default 800+hp blown BBC, impeller cut

Hi, my buddy will be running a bad A BBC blown with 800 or more hp. He was turning 6k with 650-700hp and I was trying to tell him his impeller isn't right snce he was just south of 90mph. Anyone have an idea of what He should be running?

Yup! It was hitting really hard, but don't think he was getting the speed he was wanting. At that kind of hp, would a jet a way help?

Forget it. RPM by hp, not by impeller cut!

Here is the boat he's refering to guys. I could of swore he was already pushing 800+hp. I am by far no expert on pumps but a jet-a-way is used as a saftey precaution incase the motor locks up while laying down a pass. It also unlocks the pump so you can start your boat on the trailer. Yes a jet-a-way would be a good idea with that kind of HP.
If I was him. There is only one person to call about pump questions and thats Chris Starkweather, owner at B1 Racing. Here is a link to website.

I was going to help him out, but he has a pump guy already. He should know the proper set up. His motor has been changed, this is the 3rd time since he has seen you. I don't remember hearing about twin turbo Elin, but a lot happened then, and each season since then.

Just curious, but how exactly are you determining the power output of this and the last couple engines? Have these all been on the dyno?

Not sure how he is getting those numbers. Good question.

I use an A+ for 850hp at 5900 rpm. The impellor puts just the right amount of load on the engine so at full throttle it peaks at the engine's peak hp (5900 rpm). Before that I had a B impellor but the engine pushed it passed 5900 rpm to 6200. 6200 rpm for my engine was passed peak hp so was loosing about usable 50hp.

Sounds about like his rpm range. Looks like he is right where he needs to be! Thanks!

Cowboy_Mike: What impeller does your buddy currently run?

Master Sergeant: According to the impeller charts running a B to 6200 rpm is much less than 850 hp. Even with a AA not an A+ 5900 only shows around the high 700hp range...775 or so. I'm not saying impeller charts are 100% accurate, but they can be very useful. did you dyno your engine? was your 850 hp a corrected number?
