    Default electrical-wiring help

I've got no power to either lead going to the fuel pump
where do I go from here.
i've got a full charge on the battery
and no juice to the pump,
nor any power to the little harness at the back of the motor.
the ignition wire at the ignition switch is hot when in the run position.
the tester shows no power to the coil either (how is this supposed to be checked.
    I'm lost.
    HELP

    460 ford southwind

the thing died on the trailer when winterizing the primary carb bowl was dry and the pump made no noise (like normal.)
i've already bought a replacement pump
but don't want to put it in if i get no power to it

if the power lead to the pump has no power, then trace it back to its power source to find the problem. if the power lead is does hove power and its still not working then its a ground issue. also check for blown fuses.

A fuse somewhere maybe? Not sure how they wired their boats. What year boat is it. Is the wire coloring per the standard color codes? Older boats didnt use a standardized wire color.

Take a look here Marine Color Codes | Marinco . if it is a 74 this for sure wont apply. are there any fusable links in the system. Otherwise keep working backward until you can find power.

Ok, I don't want to sound like a jerk, but from the sound of your post, you are in over your head. What you need to do is post up your where you live and how much beer you are willing to sacrafice as payment for the help of someone that can diagnose an electrical fault. If that doesn't work you should find a local shop that knows what they are doing.

Before all this though, if you have a bright red button mounted on the wiring terminal block mounted on the back of your engine. Push it, if it clicks in, then check power again. If that doesn't work continue on with the first suggestion I gave.
