    Default Fuel Filter Water Seporator

I bought a fuel filter water seporator that has 2 inlets and 2 outlets. My plan is to use the 2 inlets, one hose from each fuel tank but only one of the outlets going to the fuel pump, pluging the other outlet. Does it matter where the filter is mounted, high or low in the bilge? I'm using a mechanical fuel pump.

I would mount it as low as reasonably possible so gravity can help feed the filter.

My last boat with a mech stock pump i mounted the filter about mid transom, just below the trim line for the top and bottom half. I never had one issue with it. Even if i ran out of fuel, just cranked it for a few moments and it would re prime with no issues. From my experience, try to keep the fuel lines equal length as possible so the tanks feed evenly. I always ran both tanks open at once.

mines 1/2" x 2 in and only using 1 of the 1/2" out. with -8 lines from the tanks. mounted high/mid transom to clear my TT exhaust with an electric fuel pump mounted down low on the stringer. not problemo's here. only time i had an issue was when i replaced the fuel filter dry. do yourself a favor when you FIRST put the filter in, pour some gas in there so your fuel pump doesnt have to suck for days to "prime" itself.

Running a 3/8 seporator with 3/8 lines. Just wasn't sure how high or low to mount it. Thanks for the info.

If its 3/8 npt = -8 or 1/2 line...I wouldnt reduce the line till after your pump.

3/8 line is okay but your fuel will get to the pump faster and more consistent pressure with larger line. I chased a fuel pressure issue with mine and changed out my 1/4 npt water/fuel sep to 3/8 npt and ran -8 1/2 fuel line from tank to mech 1/4 npt pump then -6 3/8 to carb. The 3/8 npt water sep states it will give about 15% more flow over 1/4 npt. 1/4 npt= 3/8 or -6
