I ran my boat on the hose the other day and while running I wasn't getting any water thru the headers. Do you think the water pressure is too low or too much is being let thru the outlet. Someone else also mentioned the ball and spring in the T.

wondering why your running on the hose? bad things seem to happen on the hose.
First of all, you made a HUGE mistake by telling everyone you ran your boat on the hose. You are going to catch some heat for that statement. I believe that if you are running a tee valve, you will not see any water from the pipes. I think it has something to do with the fact that there is no load on the motor. With your dump valve opened 3/4 of the way and a giood working tee valve you should see water from the pipes at around the 2k rpm range while out on the water.

yea im definitely about to cut back on running it on the hose. im probably going to head to the lake this weekend and finally run her so hopefully everything works fine. i'll be sure to restrict some flow going to the outlet so it'll build some pressure for the headers.
I don't restrict the outlet or the inlet on mine, mine runs about 180* on warm water and about 165* on colder lakes. My bassett-T opens between 1500-2000 rpm and all you should see come out the header is steam. you dont want water in the header at an idle, or water pouring out the tips at WOT.
Put a valve between the T stat housing and the Basset t valve. That way you can tune your engine temp and still get the correct amount of water out the headers at the right rpm. Any changes you make to the block water pressure with the dump valve effects when the t valve opens. If I start mine on the trailer for any engine tuning I disconnect the driveline from the pump first. Then I shut the header valve off. This way I can keep the engine temp where I want it without worrying about hydro lock with the engine.
you probably dont have enough pressure coming off of the the hose. i had the same problem with my setup when i was doing some tuning prior to hitting the lake and once i opened the hose all the way up everything was working fine. i didnt want too much pressure before firing it up(didnt want t-valve to open without motor running) so i turned it on halfway until it was started then cranked it up.
thanks for the help fellas. ima take it to castaic this weekend and see if the pressure will open the headers. and futs i just might do that if i get to the lake and they dont work lol
