mike, what they are talking about is a programmable rev limiter. basically, you "program" whatever engine acceleration rate you want, from 0 to 12,000 rpm, in as quick or as short a time as you want. it's used with either a wot switch or an off-idle switch to initiate the timer, and the ramp activates. for example, from dead stop idle, you might want the engine to accelerate to 5000, then ramp up to 6500 over a 2 or 2.5 second time period. you just program it in and that's your ramp. you can extend that period, shorten it, change the beginning/ending rpm, etc. whatever keeps the boat hooked up.
from a race standpoint, it's a very useful tool.
i'm not sure if msd still sells the 7561 as a stand alone launch control?? the program is incorporated into some of the digitals.
