mike, what they are talking about is a programmable rev limiter. basically, you "program" whatever engine acceleration rate you want, from 0 to 12,000 rpm, in as quick or as short a time as you want. it's used with either a wot switch or an off-idle switch to initiate the timer, and the ramp activates. for example, from dead stop idle, you might want the engine to accelerate to 5000, then ramp up to 6500 over a 2 or 2.5 second time period. you just program it in and that's your ramp. you can extend that period, shorten it, change the beginning/ending rpm, etc. whatever keeps the boat hooked up.
from a race standpoint, it's a very useful tool .

i'm not sure if msd still sells the 7561 as a stand alone launch control?? the program is incorporated into some of the digitals.

    2 1/2 degree backcut shoe
    Hyd diverter on timer
    6' blocker
Full interior 650lbs hull & leaves hard like an 18'

we run similar stuff in the #905 but with a launch control.

This is a treat. Steve what RPM are you spinning when you flat foot it outta the hole? I have the same impeller and inducer so it will prolly be close to mine.

It has a AB stainless with inducer, loader and all the performance norms. I Think it has 2 degree wedge now but not for sure? No diverter....I could give a shit less about a gay ass rooster tail, it has a race nozzle on now, but I have a place diverter if necessary? So, 21 inches from transom or 26 is the big question? One of the reputable owners said in the pic below with him driving he said it needed more wedge! Motor is set at 26 inches from transom in all pics below. Boat ran 107-108 with a 555 and a 400 shot. At around 800ft mark is what I was told.

In my GW on motor 6500 (470 iron chevy), but the same jet drive was in my cheyenne and would spin 7300 ( 500 aluminium pontiac) and that too was flat footed

    MPD imp, inducer, and bowl

Damn. I wish i could keep mine that low. I have mpd bowl, inducer and I spin to 7700 if I flat foot it. I have to roll on the throttle or use the launch control.

back to the original question about engine placement .... how does the placement of the pump play into this?

I'm putting the boat back together and something The Bostick and I noticed a bit ago is the placement of my pump vs the placement of his in relation to the transom.

My hand-hole cover is not nearly to the center of the transom as where Bostick's and many he has seen are just about dead center. will this placement have and effect on where the engine should be placed?
