    The dimpled ride plate was never perfected So I beleive it got put on the back burner.

    a few years ago, a couple of the guys here were going for a record jet boat jump. I can't remember if the ramp was all set or not but it was similar to the one used for water ski jumping.
    At the time there were a ton of ideas being tossed around by quite a few people. Ya know, since there are so many new people since then, maybe it should be revived.

    I think Money$ucker was the ginni pig for the jump. I know It was real close to happening, That was a fun thread. I remember that the driving suit and safty gear were in place, and the location was up in the air. We spent countless hours on the "dimpling" on the bottom and the ride plate to get the right amount of lift and less drag off of the ramp.
    Didn't the ramp have rollers??

    Damn it was hard to find this.

    Well, here is an update on the tunnel boat jump record attempt.

    After years of research and development, we finally applied to Guiness book for a witness to record the attempt. We were going to use the ski jump in the ski lake by berkeley. The brackish water would help give the pump more bite. By the time guiness go abck to us, the use permit for the lake had expired and the weather had turned bad.

    Unfortunately, during testing at one of our secret test locations, the pin holes in the keel to inject air under the boat to reduce srface tension began to connect with tiny hairline cracks finally, causing the loss of all our hard work and time, sinking to the bottom of the lake. The bottom of the boat tore out and we lost the dimpled rideplate, motor, pump, and all the bottom mods. The rangers do not allow diving or recovery and the depth would be costprohibitive if they did allow it. There is a new program in the works and now I have a connection with Ripley's entertainment who owns Guiness so we should have a better shot at it this time. I will post some more on the new project soon. Any input to help would be greatly appreciated.

    Serious as a heart attack!! Here are the latest developments.

    I have also used my new facility to complete some water flow dynamics, hydraulics and rough water endurance testing (Juccuzzi tub with whirl pool).
    I have also completes wind tunnel testing in the recent santa anna winds that are so common in my neck of the woods. All these tools at my disposal have greatly aided my design for my new super advanced reverse tunnel design.

    With the help of the recently rediscovered archive of information from the Tunnel hull long jump world record attempt thread from the Hot boat Forums. The dimples on the bottom of the hull, combined with the air injection through the bottom water surface area through pin holes to reduce surface tension, drag and friction, also aided with a liberal coating of vegitable oil.

    The reverse tunnel design may require a chart and and some calculations to fully understand but I will try to explain this to you all in terms that may be easier to understand.

    The idea behind the tunnel hull utilizes the hull to compress air in the tunnels. The compressed air in attempt to expand under the pressure creates lift on the hull lifting it out of the water thereby creating less surface area for the water to create drag upon.

    The reverse tunnel design is actually a channel in the center of the hull which starts narrow at the nose of the boat and widens toward the exit of the boat, like a fan. This actually depressurizes the any air under the boat causing the hull to actually suck down toward the water. The drag caused by the water in contact with the wet surface is of set by the dimples, air injection and vegitable oil treatment that the hull has received. 1/2 way back about under the drivers seat begins a loading bubble scientifically designed in the shape of a V to channel and accelerate the flow of water to feed the the massive rubber impellers of 3 (yes 3) Jacuzzi pumps with custom oversized bowls to accomodate the impellers when the centriffugal force of the turning impeller causes the impeller to expand and therefore increase the amount of water moved almost like an automatic transmission. Even with the extreme torque of the Biodiesel motor the smaller rotating mass of the pre-expanded impellers helps in the holeshot while the expanded impeller with the larger rotating mass actually pulls itself around thus enabling the motor and pump to spin to previously unattainable R's.

    one word.....helium!
    I was messing around yesterday with my boat, finally getting it back together. I've wanted to put some flotation it in somehow, it's an open bow with very little space up front. A few years ago, I came up with the idea of using those air tight storage bags filled with packing peanuts. Fill a bag up with the peanuts and suck the air out with a vacuum.
    Great idea but be sure to cover the sucking end of the hose with a nylon stocking or you'll suck a bunch of peanuts into the vacuum!
    When I went to the store to get the air tight storage bags, I noticed there was hot air balloon races happening over the Napa Valley.
    Damn if that didn't get me thinking!
    hot air....lightweight....can't really attach a balloon above the boat....no place to have a fire either..... PHUCKIN A! HELIUM!
    I picked up the air tight storage bags and headed over to Costco to pick up a couple of those helium tanks, bought 8.
    I got home, set the bags in place behind the seats and anywhere else I could fit them in, got 6 of the 8 in the boat. I started filling the bags with the helium and noticed the dang thing seemed higher in the nose...sure enough, a full 1/4" with 6 bags filled with helium to 20lbs.
    I'm thinking this discovery can help many people with getting thier boats up out of the water at speed. Further testing is planned.

    I wonder what would happen if a person filled the sponsons of a tunnel hull with helium? hmmmm.

    You are thinking way too small!!! I say Tri toon with a jet in each, filled with helium. Now we are cooking with gasoline!

    a large wing is a blatant use of aerodynamics. Fabbing up a scoop out of carbon fiber in the shape of a B-2 Stealth Bomber would be the bomb!



    would look pretty damn cool too!

    btw Cy, are you doing up the CF numbers or are you waiting for me to give you the dimensions for my truck stickers?
