    Default Why would impeller failure sink the boat?

    Many post about too much power to a cast AL impeller will destroy it and the bowl but why would it sink the boat?

    Sometimes when the impeller goes, it cracks or puntures the intake....and then you have a big leak......

    Thrust bearing failure will cause impeller to run into the suction housing and the impeller will wear its way through the suction till it breaks through, boat will sink shortly after.
