Which impeller to buy
I am getting ready to purchase a new impeller for my jet. It has a dominator pump, sbc and has run 87 at 6100 rpms with an aluminum bc. The current impeller has cracked on all of the blades many times, and I have welded it back together a couple of times. Spring is coming, so I need a new impeller.

new bronze aggressor bc, if its runnin that well with a bc, i'd stay near that cut but a aggressor will give ya more holeshot, same mph or more.

A lot goes into an impeller selection, engine characteristics, intended use, weight of the boat etc. Your best bet to get the impeller that is going to work for you is to talk to the experts. Tell them what you have, what you want to do and be honest with yourself and the pro. I would suggest you talk to Jack (MPD), Duane (HTP), or Tom (JBP) and I am sure there are others. They see lots of different applications and have tons of experience to draw from.

If you aren't chewing gravel and rocks thru it, save the $700 and buy the Bronze. There is no HP capacity difference.
Especially for a small block, don't take the extra RPM drop of the High Helix (unless it works with your dyno'd power profile), but, Duane knows a damn sight more about them than I do, that's just my initial gut reaction thought.

The Hi-Helix "Duanes impeller" worked extremely well with my small block. Also it seems easier to repair stainless steel impellers. Not that the Hi-Helix broke but from past experience welding up ss impellers. Whats 700 bucks when it comes to your boat? Also the proper prep on the front of the Hi-Helix impeller makes a huge difference. We gained .15 in the 1/8th switching to the Hi-Helix over the standard ss that American Turbine sells.
Also just so you know the best of the best mag bronze has a tensile strength of around 100,000 psi and the American Turbine 17-4 ph stainless impellers are about 180,000 psi tensile strength.
We have installed ,used and sold all of these Impellers with good sucess and positive results , they all have different "attributes" and withstanding pricing (which varies quite a bit from $600+ to $1400) they all all very similar. Just thinkin out loud here but it seems that the way to really vote and fairly judge would be to have the opportunity to test each one in the same boat,same motor and same controlled test conditions and derive "emperical" data by making appropriate "tune-up" and hardware changes and adjustments for each different impeller ,recording data and then making a choice as to which one wins Tom

His last brand new Aluminum lasted him 10 minuites, maybe 20, memory, sure wasn't long, and he WAS the "you can run Al. all you want to, if you care for it right" guy.
He finally listened to folks and bought bronze.

Well, when Aggressor says it's plenty safe to hook up a 2,000 HP engine to their Bronze impeller, and you really aren't going to find that in ANYONE'S boat short of an insanity-level race boat, then there is no PRACTICAL or USEFUL/MEANINGFUL difference in the power handling capacity of the 2.
The 1/2-cost MAY be of value.
What's $700 compared to my boat?
What's $700 of more than enough impeller compared to $1400 of more than enough impeller.
Same end point, 1/2 the expense.

Big difference in weight between the three metals, and Bronze is much heavier than the Stainless. Just another consideration......
you are correct
my next one will be ss no matter the hp that way i can upgrade in power with having to change the dman impeller again
the bronze ones are extremley heavy
