NJBA upgrades / fundraiser
As most of the NJBA members know, there is a movement to purchase new lights. It has been approved by the board to make it happen and a sub-committee has been assigned to make it happen.
There will be a lot of oppertunities for members to assist, but as we know, we are a club of members and are non-profit ... this means we will need to raise the money.
Details will be announced at the awards banquet Saturday night.

New timing system will be awesome, getting into gambler type racing with a staggered tree will be alot of fun.
I'd be happy to make a donation, for those not going to the banquet whats the best way to donate? Are there any fund raising events?

Yes there are ways to donate & fund raisers coming.
Tom Bandy is currently working on setting up an account specifically for the donations/funds raised to go into. This account will be a secured interest earning money market account that is seperate from the normal treasury accounts. It's not so easy because he has to work with the Securities Co. to give them our non-profit tax id numbers, officer signatures, etc.
It should be set up by next week. I will post details as well as send out letters to our members ... current and prior (maybe we can bring some back)
We are looking at an event at Irvine Lake (cool details to come soon), NJBA jacket & flex fit hat sales, 50/50 drawings, etc. etc. etc. all that will go into our light/equipment fund.
We (NJBA) are really trying to take care of our racers, while we are a club that's run by volunteer members ... we still need to have a level of customer service if that makes any sence. We would like the racers to have fun and enjoy their experience. Part of that is updating our equipment and offering the best venue we can.
If we all pitch in, we can make this happen. It's not a cheap project, about $40k by the time it's all said and done. Last year we had 140+ members ... so that means if we asked for $285 from each member, it could happen. But some members might be on a tight budget with the current economy ... so we figured that asking for donations might work.
Basically, if our members know our needs, they can help ... if we say nothing ... nothing will happen.

No doubt! I think the jet guys have a little more pull now. In the past it was only V Drive events.

This would hopefully be both. My guess is that we couldn't run the boats and that it would be more of a show and shine. Either way it would be insane!!!
