Thanks for the feedback guys.. They say taliking about it is the best medicine. I'm kinda thinking in this case, a couple of cases with your friends boating down the river in your new boat might be better medicine, but what the hell do i know, i don't even have my boat yet !!!!!!!!!!!

At this point myself and my family do not even want the boat. They flat out told me they need some new orders to finish our boat. They do not have any monies to pick-up anything. When someone said "they are a rob peter to pay paul" company, they were spot on. The boat is still an empty shell. Maybe they build a good product, maybe they don't. Either way i will never know because it is in the attornies hands now. All i want is my monies back and pretend this never happened. Yes, they are an l.l.c. Company, but all the checks went to ron hamilton directly and were endorsed by ron. Stupid move on his part. I hate like hell to say this, but if your thinking of a placecraft deck boat, really think it threw. And then think again. The guy that builds placerafts in havasu is only using there name, not the guy's that i am dealing with. The drag boat i see on this site is awsome and do not want to confuse the two. I guess what sucks the most is they burned a summer from me and my family, and when you have a 13 an 14 year old, b.s. Life is too short for these kind of dealings.................

Dam, I just open this up expecting to load more pics up for ya. That Sucks 5150WAKE! I wish you well on this whole deal. Too bad there isn't a forum on PB that has a buyer beware section. I remember that one fella who was on here warning everyone about PC. Man what a good looking hull. So sad to hear.

I wish you well 5150!

Hey Bruce,
Its Chad, I took you for a ride in my Place 22 last weekend.

Its too bad this guy cant pull somthing though and finnish your boat.
that thing looks ausome!

You know my other friend (Grego) that was there last weekend; has the Ultra Shadow 21. I am sure that he would take you for a ride as well.

You would then know how they both run.

I wouldn't say the "Ultra is better..." Just smaller....

Yes, it is the same mfg that advertises on this site. And no i don't want to finish it elsewhere. The hull was about 15k and they have 63k of my monies, so it would be like buying the boat twice. I would rather get my monies back and start over. It is a good time to hammer out a deal right now !!!!! I will not do custom again. Besides, there is someone out there that needs the money and i need the boat, so i think it time to help out a brother !!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn, I was following this thread hoping that 5150 got the happy ending, sad to read that he was screwed over. I hope that you are ble to get ALL of your money back, this will certainly give Place a black eye, the word of these boards tends to travel very fast. Like others have said, you may want to consider an Ultra 23, I bet they could build you whatever you want in a timely manner. Best of luck on whatever you decide...

Wow. Like I said before, they did the same thing to my buddy with a 28' Deck. Sorry to hear!

Pretty shittty they couldn't finish your boat, but used your $63k to make their house payments and go to the river all summer with their families.

Fock Placecraft. They build a nice boat, but the customer service and loyalty is crap.

the worst part of reading the negative things on this site was scott, ron's son follows these threads and would tell me why he or she was saying negative things about placecraft. it was always, and i mean always the customer's fault. they are experts at buying time. hell, they had me convinced !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow. Id love to hear how it was my buddies fault that it took a year to get a boat he paid cash in full for at the time of order. Im also wondering why it took them a year after taking delivery for Ron to provide him his custom cover that he paid for. His gauges still fog up, his shower has never worked, the stereo ipod connection doesnt work and so on.

My buddy used a tarp to cover his boat until he got his cover, well the thing scratched up his boat from the winds. He told ron he wanted it detailed and the scratches repaired. He bascally said F off and its not his fault for the winds and left him with the bill. He wishes he wouldve bought a Magic or something else. He loves his 28', but hates Placecraft.

I bet you can easily obtain a few written testimonys from upset placecraft owners. ;)

5150, so sorry to hear about your troubles. I truly hope everything gets worked out for you and you don't lose a dime. Good luck to you.

This is just another black mark for the custom boat building industry.
Is there anyother type :)bulb Just to what degree ....:)bulb

Boy they shot themselves in the foot on this one. Not to smart.

5150 sorry about your problems that just sucks :(

Frank place used to be the owner of placecraft boats.ron was partners with him tell that fell apart with 22' verson. Frank place is the owner of place diverters,( good guys ) nothing to with placecraft anymore. Again tom in havasu is just using the name and has nothing to do with the guys in s.el monte. There is no question that today's economy is the biggest factor in all this, just sucks it's my money at hand. But in the big picture, there is alot bigger problems in the world.

Alittle information about Placecraft Boats...

Regarding Placecraft boats...Frank Place was never the owner of Placecraft boats, he owns Place Divertor.
In 1979 Bill Place started a Company in Huntington Beach California and the name is Placecraft Boats Inc. He designed 3 different versions of the 18 ft 8 in hull to accomodate different horsepower.
His first year manafacturing boats Placecraft Boats sent Bernie Rico& the Rich Bich BFJ to their first N.D.B.A. National championship.
Then on October 30, 1983 in Phoenix Arizona Bill Place's Going Places 101 clocked a record 176.39 mph.
Bill Place died in 1996 and Ron Hamilton has been running my dad business since. If anyone ever met Bill Place knows he never would run his business the way these threads I am reading say Placecraft business is being conducted. My dad took pride in his design and treated every customer who bought a Placecraft with the respect and detailed attention they deserve. It really hurts me to see my dads business being run like this.

You are right! Your Father was a class guy to race against, do business with, and to hang out with. One of the most competitive, but nicest straight up guy we ever raced with. He wasn't any different when he was doing the airplane stuff.
