the new girl is almost finished, but i just put a hold on the engine. they are telling me that the 502-502h.p. is getting replaced with a LS8. 540 h.p. from the factory with factory blower small block. as i stated i was going with the 496 h.o. with CMI exhaust. i am told that, that engine will also be getting phased out. doing a little rescerch on both. the new LS8 is $6,000 more than the 496h.o. for that money i could put a whipple on at 6 pounds and make 625 h.p. What's a guy to do ?? any comments will always be appreciated. thanks........

you need to be carefull up there, check on everything they are telling you.they must have done alot of work since 4-27-09 because your boat was bare naked sitting on the trailer. You stated you paid for that boat in full? that is going to haunt you.

Big time.Had a buddy who gave Ron and Scott Hamilton 4000.00 bucks
for a deposite down and never started his boat. Finally got his money back
after threatening to sue.Really hope it works out for him..Not sure i like the back end of the 23 Placecraft. Like the NEW 22 SHOCKWAVE better.

correction, the boat came out of the mold 4.8.09. they have had 3 weeks to assemble it. scott kinda took this one under his wing. you would not believe how detail oriented he is. this is my fifth boat with various manufactures (viking, donzi, scarab) their workmanship is extremly impressive. we are also going with all carbon fiber looking viyls on the interior(white, silver, gray) offshore style headrests, it should come out looking good. got to leave town for a couple of weeks but when i get back we are going to pudding stone to test run it. i will post a couple of pics of the completed boat. also a couple of run shoots. thanks for the continued interest.......

hey phin,
I was wondering if you had a chance to contact hill props? or maybe that has been taken care of already. in regards to the wind deflectors, i just don't care for them. one of the hot new items seems to be retractable windsheilds. had scott look into them but they are a little pricey right now. i know magic made some but that is not an option due to they are no longer around. Personally i like the wind in my face, wife not so fond of it. maybe down the line we will find the compromising solution. take care........

danhercules,
couldn't agree more. most likly going with the 496 h.o. get out of my 1 year warrenty period and then let whipple have there way with her. dustin tells me that a 496 h.o. with the headers and 5 pounds will give about 625h.p. at that point ITS JUST TIME TO HAVE A SOOTHING BEVERAGE !!!!!!!

No boat yet !

I guess its time to stand up like a man and take the verbal beating of "i told you so " ron was kind enough to be straight with me and tell me the truth. As bad as it was, he said everything will be straightened out this week. Now what that means on the delivery time, i don't know... The thing that really stinks is we only had these two weeks free to play with the boat. My son is starting high school next year and is playing water polo so the whole month of july is taking and first week of august due to team training. The whole thing stinks. Oh' by the way the interior is awsome. Its still at laveycraft, they have not picked it up yet. This is like a trip down memory lane, my sandcar build went just like this !!!!!

We are heading out to the river tomorrow, i had to rent a sea-doo boat for the fathers day weekend. " how's that for a kick in the tea bags " so if you see me passing by in a rent a boat , toss me a beer, i will be a needing it..

" help, bush, he's trying to take all my money "

I had my boat build back in 2005 and like most had my delivery date pushed out many times, but after taking delivery and except for one issues with the boat it has not been back.

I have the 502/502 jet and it runs ok 55-60mph with just myself in the boat. But most of the time we have 6-8 peps in the boat and the best I see is around 45mph.

What the boat lacks in mph it makes it up in the ride, I love the ride.

I saw a Kachina that looks just like this boat, are they sharing a mold?

nice boat 5150
my dad has the same one its the pic over my post that i get to take out more then he does hahaha I love it but it does need more horse power but other then that it rides nice and hold a lot of girls :D

I do not believe kachina. The 22' mold is at shockwave now. Placecraft re-tooled the mold and came out with the 23'. I know they had to pay royolties every time they used the 22'. Do not know if that is the case with thwe 23'. We'll, of to the river now with my rental. Should be able to get there by 10:00. " happy fathers day to all you dad's this weekend " .

really keep an eye on your pump. this heavy boat really like to try to pushthe pumpshaft forward in your boat. Thus pushing the crank forward. and destroying everything. Happened once with me and once with the previous owner. And its not due to horsepower. there is another placecraft deck at Aha Quin that had the same issue. There is no cure for the problem... just comes from the wieght of the boat. I learned the hard way. cost me about 12k to fix. Great party boat though! Lots of fun !

I wont say I told you so. Diickheads say that! LOL

Sorry to hear man. My buddy had the 1st or 2nd 28' Placecraft deckboat built and it took them almost a year to build it. He was told "oh yeah, you'll have it in a few more weeks"...BS!

Then it took over a year after delivery to get the custom cover for it. So during the winter he had a huge tarp over it and and it got really windy and the tarp scratched up the boat pretty bad. And Placecraft said well thats not our fault, when in reality it is as they shouldve given him the cover already. He had another issue with his gauges fogging up, they never fixed it. His shower has never worked in the boat, he took it in, they swore they fixed it, well... they didnt.

All in all its a beautiful boat and rides amazing. But the customer service sucks.

I think Placecraft takes the monmey from boat A to pay their bills and waits for and order on boat B so they can finish boat A. Then when they sell boat C, then can finish boat B.. Shiity businessmen!
