set back pump in rogers tr

i was thinking of movin my pump back in my 81 tr good idea or not i still wanna run it at the lake or maybe just move it enough to put the bowl outside the boat waste of time or go for it just lookin for feed back thanks

Yes it is a very good idea. You can move it back a max of about 2" to 2.5". Anything beyond that and you will need to cut through the transom which is not a good idea.
