I am rebuilding my dominator pump, I got a stainless A, I was told it is an american turbine impeller, I bought a rebuild kit that was sent from american turbine, I told the shop that I had a dominator and was told it is the same.
heres my question, the new wear ring is wider than the old one, the old wear ring was real tight pullin it out, the old insulator was one solid ring, no split. the new insulator is a piece of plastic that is split, the new wear ring slides in and out, I dont have to knock it in, goes in by hand, and the old impeller was an aluminum A, there is a height difference between the new and old.

Old and new style Doms?

Corey , Ron is correct you had an early Dom Impeller and wear ring , The "insulator" you indicated as one piece is actually part of the original old Dominator wear ring (plastic body with a brass insert) The New style Dominator Impeller you purchased uses a standard wear ring like you were sent from AT and presses in with the thin plastic liner The fact that it (the new wear ring ) fits loosley when you press it in is perplexing I'll PM you some specs for measurements Tom

Morning Corey, Heres some numbers that will hopefully help your situation when you do your measuring today .The Early Doms up to Ser# 14400 , (yours is # 1100) have a suction wear ring bore of 7.595 ID , the AT 5800 wear ring which should have been in your kit ( replaces the thick white plastic laminated one in this case ) has an OD of 7.437 and uses a .082 liner/insulator, total WR and insulator thickness prior to install , ( factored with 2x's insulator thickness) is 7.601 + or- This should install into the suction with sufficiant compression to fit tightly and hold position, unless for some reason your suction bore is off a smidge (It would be helpfull to accuratley measure the bore size ) If the suction bore is off for some reason, there are oversize liners available as well as some other simple "fixes" .
Conversley ,The Later Dominator Jets after #14400 typically use a bore size of 7.750 ID , a wear ring (similar to Berk) of 7.600 OD and a liner/insulator of .082 (ttl .164) If you had the late style WR for example by mistake , the way to tell is that it would fit in the older suction bore but would not allow for a liner

note WR depth , in this case dictated by that stainless impeller skirt width is 1.050 ,the provided shims will provide the correct clearance for the impeller skirt vs the WR lip
