need help!!! found a iron cross

a few back read a thread that one of you found a iron cross stamped in your block. to day i was cleaning my block up for some fresh paint before it goes back together and i found two. i dont remember what the end up being and cant find the tread. my guess would be the builders stamp. can anyone help me out with some info

I remember the thread and I think it is a stamp for some odd sizing in the blocks machining! Bearings that have special sizes! You will have to really check all bearing and clearences! I am not sure but someone will chime in! WT

Schneider cams down in San Diego uses the iron cross as their logo...maybe they assembled some engines at one point?

Don't know what engine you run, but if it's a Mopar RB, this might explain it (from the Imperial Club forum).

"I have a 1967 Imperial LeBaron with a 440. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me what the cross symbol on the identification pad means. I have only seen this once before on a 440 engine that came out of a Dodge police car.

The Maltese cross means you have a bearing that is a different size. The cross should be followed by a number ( or two ). The number(s) will be the bearing(s) that have a different size. It can happen with any factory engine."
