oil cooler plumbing

All right ,I got My oil cooler mounting dellima figured out and mounted. Now I need to know the proper way to plumb it.
Should the lines be plumbed

1) Engine - cooler - filter - engine?

Or

2)Engine - filter - cooler - engine?

Just throwing this out there.....

I would say hot oil will go through the filter easier than cooler......

It should net less oil pressure drop, thus more oil pressure where it counts.

Otherwise personal preference..I have seen it done both ways, there are arguments for both ways, like keeping the cooler cleaner when filtered first.

You would be correct.

Filter hot oil and then run it to cooler. That's how ours is set up.
