    Aluminum.

I know, it's strange. But, I've seen stranger stuff than this. I'm just pissed that it happened. I know how to fix it, just pissed that I have to fix it.

That's a good idea! Never thought about that. I'll pick up some studs from work when I go get the helicoils. Thanks.

Stainless is the only way to go on any boat! The only steel bolts I have on the entire boat are the motor mount bolts because of the stress from the engine torquing, need Grade 8 for that. And the intake manifold bolts because we didn't have any the right length in stainless at work, needed to be very long because of the spacers that are used on the tall deck with a standard manifold, and I didn't want to spend the money on the right length stainless bolts. Everything I get from work is free! So I get everything I can from there.

Oh yeah, I anti-sneeze everything! I hate stuck and broken bolts! Have to remove too many of them for people at work. Seems like every other day, I'm pulling something out of something, that someone else already tried everything they could think off to get out, but they actually just got it stuck more! Then they expect me to fix it! Haven't run into a bolt I couldn't remove, yet. Had to step back and scratch my head on a couple, but they came out in the end!

Wouldn't "I'm Unscrewed" be a more appropriate title for this thread?

Yeah, it probably would have been. Didn't think of that one. Oh well, can't change it now.

Ok, I'm now screwed again (meaning I have threads again). Helicoils went in without any problems. But now I took apart my thermostat housing thing and the threads are gone! Unfortunately, can't helicoil pipe threads. Gotta get a new one. This damn boat just won't let me make any progress, it's all just been 1 step forward, 5 steps back. I know I'm not the only one, but sometimes I feel like I'm cursed to never finish the boat, it will forever be in a state of refinishing, and never see water. Thank you.

    Heres some pictures.

And those helicoils are probably every bit of $20 or more. And my divider also has a steel pipe stuck in it, would come out the pipe is now crushed, so I said screw it I'm just gonna have to buy a new one. Thanks though, def. bookmarking that page, might come in handy down the road.

No boat is ever really finished. You'll see the water and it is going to be awesome because of all the work you've put in. Keep at it
