I have been thinking about going to through the transom headers from my OT's. Was wondering how ya'll who have em like em. Post some pics if you have any.
Pro's, Con's, ideas? Thanks!

As far as safety goes, you are less likely to get burned or some little kid touching the hot pipes since they are better water cooled. They are quieter too.
I changed mine on my last boat simply for safety reasons. Small kids, drunk friends, drunk friends, drunk friends - you get the point. Save your skin.
if i had the money i would change mine in a heartbeatsick of the damn noise all up in my ears and no baffle i have tried seems to help that much, plus i spit them out as soon as i buy them

I assume you are talking jacketed, not injected, either would be quieter, but the injected will still burn the snot out of ya.

Yes they will, but for the most part they sit further away from the back seat. A plug check can painful though.
They are deffently quiter. If you have enough set back from the transome you can adjust the hose so you can set them where you want to the waterline. We didn't have the setback room so they sit where they sit approx 3/4 of the way submerged. They do splash like a SOB when you're in reverse, but that may have to do with the 565 inches of displacement trying to get rid of the exhaust.
Water jacketed would be great, but these have worked fine for many year's:
I ran these on the dyno against a set of race Hooker headers back when the engine made 780 hp and these were 5 hp less than the Hookers.

Going fast is only half the fun ... what you make go
fast is the other half.

Check fit the headers before you break out the hole saw. My headers dictated where my transome holes had to be, not the other way around. Keep in mind this pic is before I trimmed off all the collector I dared.![]()

Thanks sleeper, those are what I am looking at running and you answered my question perfectly. My boat was already cut on the transom by the P.O. so I have been trying to find an elegant way of filling the hole. I have billet covers now but I'm thinking the headers might just look better! All though pulling a plug does look like it could get ugly!

spend the extra dough on the water jacketed. you will be glad you did in the long run
I have bassett tt's also, cept mine are cheby. The right side header sits way closer to the transom than the left side, not sure about the ford ones. Good luck![]()

Yeah, those headers run upwards of 3k for a good set of lightnings. I only paid 4k for my boat.I also have a dude who wants to trade some TT bassets so I thought I'd find out what they are all about. Granted water jacketed tt headers are the way to go I have a champagne taste on a Pabst Blue ribbon budget, cant even afford good beer. lol
