Like Futs said, definitely don't overlook the obvious. My thoughts on why the alt is because you had electrical things turning on and off, engine sputter, stuff like that. Those all sound like a low voltage problem. Still could be as simple as a dirty ground or faulty switch. Best advice is start at the simple stuff and work in a methodical direction, don't go jumping all around and changing parts without a reason. A volt meter is going to be your friend. Good luck!

Groper, if it is the alternator I have a chrome one that you can have. You might have to run by and pick it up in the desert though.

If you don't have one, thenstart looking for a inline fuse to the ignition switch usually under the dash.
WINA WINA WINA!!!! Reset the ciruit breaker and presto! I glanced at the motor real quick when it happened but didnt have time to mess with it as I was getting into some rocks and couldnt get into the water due to a surgury I just had so I wanted to get under tow asap. Once that happened I said f it and started throwing em back. Put it on the trailer, wiped her down and called it a weekend. Thanks Futs and everyone else for the advise!

    Cheers

P.S. Im hoping the cause of the kick out was just the fact that I was playing my stereo too loud for too long. We shall see....

I recently had an overcharging alternator problem (18v) that tripped the breaker every time i shut the boat off. Replaced the alternator and even though it charging properly, it still trips after shutdown. Im pretty sure those little bastards do go bad
