wtf

well here goes. i been talking with a bunch of guys about the sell of their boats. and decided to take a 3.5 hour drive today to go look at this sanger in so-cal that this guy raved about. he wanted to stay firm on the price, so i thought after looking at pics, i would go take a look, wtf are the people in the world looking at when they describe their boats...... why cant people be honest and up front, i started to point out the pinstripping coming off and the quarter size chunk missin out of the side of the hull. the guy new i was coming from vegas and he didnt even bother to try and clean the boat alittle. i was there about 10 min. he stated he wouldnt budge and didnt even think of the fact that i will have spent 80 on fuel and 7 hours drive time, not even one comment. i am not a tire kicker i have money and want a jet boat..wtf.. rant over. thanks for reading. so for all you guys that are honest and have nice boats, which i have talked to, thank you...

Man that sucks ... sorry to hear about that ...

What is your budget? I know of a few clean jets for sale & can assist in taking a look at them for you if they're in the OC/South LA CO area.

I have a different perspective for you if you're interested. When I bought my boat I thought it was a project with huge potential. I thought that a lot of the parts that were on it were "show quality" and I was basicaly stealing the boat for little cash. When I got home there was a thread on HotBoat talking about the boat that I had just bought. A few people were talking very badly about the boat and I called bull sh!t on it. Now after I've had the boat for half a year, now that I've seen more boats out there, the typical quality that would be considered show quality, and the fact that I've been crawling around the boat more since I bought it that night, I've learned that every single aspect that was broght up in the post where they were talking poorly of my boat was a correct description of my boat.

Perhaps the seller's you are speaking with have less experience than you? I don't know, just a prospective possibilty.

BTW, not knowing what you're looking for, over on SoCalJetBoats there is a beutifull Sanger flatbottom v-drive for 10K. To me, it looks like a really nice piece.

yes i can agree with some of your statements. not looking for v-drive , want a jet. i just want people to be honest and get a reality check on the price of their boat. lots for sale, not alot of buyers, slow economy... if the boat has scratches or stress cracks or whatever, out of being fiar you need to tell the prospected buyer, doesnt mean it wont sell. you dont have a chance in hell to sell if you are going to lie about.. guess it is me being picky...

I thought i was picky........................sheesh !!.......................i know the feeling, instead of asking what shape is the boat in or how nice is the gel, i tell them to explain to me what needs attention next, show me up close pics of bad areas of the boat, fading, damage, re-paint etc........................i want the bad news first cause if that list is longer than the good lists im outta there.

Honestly (and not to pick on you), if you're going out and looking at boats that were built in the 70's and 80's they're not going to be perfect unless someone has just painted or gelcoated it yesterday and they don't have kids, dogs, trees in their yard, wind, or ever used the boat. As and example pick out one of your favorite boats from the owners on this board. Just as an example take ahsumtoy's Gullwing that he just bought back. It's probably as close to perfect as you can get, yet if you ask him about flaws I'm sure he'd tell you it has some (o.k. maybe only one).

I hate to say it, and I hope you prove me wrong..........but I really think you're going to have to drop your standards some (or spend an exorbitant amount of cash).

IMO $5000-$8000 will buy you a pretty nice boat. Pretty nice aint perfect.

i am first to admit to everybody that i am overly pick, some might say a small case of ocd,i am looking at these boats with a open mind.. know ing that they are older..not new like my other one..partly is the price for the condition...strating looking at 5k now i am looking at 10k..so maybe its just me..its my parents fault not mine they raised me (inside joke with them), sorry.i know they are not perfect i just want the thruth......

i always say to the seller just tell me whats wrong with it and also say it doesnt mean i wont buy it. the answer oh nothing it the best one out there, none cleaner.on and on and on.. the boat today, if it was about 2k less i would of consider it..but he wont budge.. pretty close to throwing in the towel...or just but anything..it has already cost me almost 200 in gas for two boats not including my time.. let me add i also wash and wax my wheel wells, my father also told you better take care of your stuff otherwiase it wont last, wasnt born with a silver spoon in my a-s
