How often should I be replacing the spark plugs and or wires? I remember them costing about $100 just for the plugs the last time I had it serviced by a shop.

$100 for plugs?? Find a new shop! 100 hours easy on that motor.

A local certified Mercruiser dealer/service just gave me a price of $19.95 per spark plug......
I'm no Jim Wilkes but can't ya just do it yourself...most technical aspect of it is gapping them.

Yes I can easily do it myself and will. When I don't bring my boat home during the winter I just have a shop out there do my service. Hence the expensive spark plugs I guess. I'll be bringing the boat next week so we can cruise the harbor and check out the boat parade so I thought I might as well do my own service since it's home. I called a local shop for the part to do it myself and they quoted me the $20 per plug price. I'll do all the motor service and let Jim service the drive and a few other things.Originally Posted by rampgirlll
