this is just a heads up for anyone that might be interested. i was told i can talk about it, so i'm gonna...

as most everyone should know by now, in 2013 the Lucas National dragboat series will hold the first race of the season at Irvine Lake in socal. most likely sometime in may.

after that, they'll take the show back to the midwest/east for june/july/august. in september, the 2nd western race will be held in san diego in conjunction with bayfair.

the 3rd western race is gonna be cool. in october 2013, Lucas will hold a national event in lake havasu city's thompson bay. many thanks to the lhc chamber of commerce convention and visitor's bureau, and other city officials, for really wanting this and making it a reality. the race will either be the 2nd or 3rd weekend in october. lhc will determine and finalize the date so as to not conflict with other events occurring here in october. todd taylor has an overhead pic with the proposed track drawn into it - i'll try to get a copy to post.

then there will be the wf's at firebird in november.

hopefully, '13 is gonna be a good year

Just to update Bob's post. LODBRS Season Opener at Irvine Lake will be May 3,4,5. San Diego Sep 13,14,15. The LODBRS Desert Shootout at Lake Havasu will be Oct 11,12,13. Contracts are signed. Phoenix will be decided based on the Nascar schedule, which only goes through June at this time.

Oh my its been years since there has been a race on my birthday weekend and the kicker its in Havasu!!!! Hell effin yes!!! Count me in, boats or no boats, I'm going!!!!!!!

I will be at the IRVINE event for sure!!!

mike, it's about as close to for real as it can get. i know that bob pattison and other lucas people besides the dbr guys were directly involved in getting the contracts done and signed by the right people. so from lucas' perspective, it's solid right now. and of course, there will still be people that had no involvement that will say it won't happen. it's still 9 months away, so i guess anything can happen. but i'll have the boat ready just in case.

and the october race in lake havasu city WILL happen. when a city wants an event like lhc wants this one, makes things a whole lot easier...

In Wheatland Lucas has the top brass from Toyota & Geico racing divisions there. At the drivers meeting heard they liked what they saw, rain & all! Even IF there is a little tweaking to this 2013 schedule hats off for putting a schedule out before this season is even over. That's never been done before from what this old brain can recall.

patty, there have always been -some- races you could set your clock by. and there were always some that were a little -iffy-, or the dates couldn't be firm until later on. i think lucas wants to have it completely firm by the wf's this year, which is good.

but this is the first time in at least 25 years i know of where we're clear into september without having had a national level event west of texas. not good at all for the sport. next year (hopefully if everything goes as planned) brings some much needed change to that situation.

I agree marble falls & SITC have always been the same but it's sure nice to see an attempt at forward thinking like this. With more west of Texas races coming in the future I sure hope I get to make it to some or even all! Hope to see you in Phoenix.

for decades, red bluff was always the same weekend every year. couple days ago, somebody asked me if results to wheatland were posted. i told him, then asked "why weren't you there"? holiday, work, etc... i couldn't think of anywhere else i'd rather be on a holiday than a race. memorial at red bluff was awesome, and really a tradition. hope they can do the same thing with wheatland.

apparently you haven't spent a lot of time here yet in october. or the rest of the year for that matter...

they are bring in the same guy that stops the wind from blowing at firebird for the wf's. same guy they brought in hear last february for the balloon festival (70+ balloons). those guys don't even get out of the trailer to fill if there's any chance of breeze reaching 5mph, and they flew all weekend. it's gonna be fine...
