hi bob i just wanted to say hi. i just read your answers from power boat mag.i have been a boat teck in the I.E for 16 years working on merc & volvo stern drives only.you answered a ? ON HOW DO YOU STORE YOUR BOAT FUEL TANKS FULL OR EMPTY.I just wanted you to know I 100% agree with your answer on store empty.with todays fuel lasting 2-3 mounths if you are lucky and maybe 6 if treated.a little condensation builed up from winter should not be as bad as running old varnished up winter time grade fORMULA mix next summer.we can treat the water with dry fuel treatment and new premium fuel easyer and cheaper next summer then trying to remove old fuel out of the tanks next summer at the last price i can think of is some where around $10.00 a gal.and that is as long as the E.P.A guys have not put a stop to that.over the years I have talked to a lot service guys and engine manufacturers abouat this same ? thay always disagreed with me over this and said keep it full.becouse that is what thay where trained to say and thay had to stick with it I suppose.as i am shur you know this the fuel companys switch gas formula for winter and summer time I believe in early may for summer and late september for winter.so depending on when you stop useing the boat you could be putting winter fuel in to run next summer that could hurt more then a little water.and we all know we can not trust all the fuel stores to sell 100% water free gas out there. so our engines live on the edeg anyways just keep your filters changed that is all we can do.by the way you do a good job while wrighting for power boat mag keep up the good work love reading it.it helps keep me sharp at my job.I also like the one you wrote abouat the stern drive gear lube bottle top cap orange rubber vent I NEW ABOUAT THAT BUT I ALMOST FOR GOT TILL YOU REMINDED ME OF IT. SO THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO FOR THE MARINE INdustry. just in case you woundering who i am we do already know each other it just has been a long time since we have said hi I USED TO HELP OUT AT THE OFF SHORE RACES IN THE LATE 90'S FOR WARLOCK AND LAVEY CRAFT AND SOME TIMES BRENT AT ELIMINATOR.
