I just got off the phone with Dale, who is the owner of the island and the organizer. There will be a live band on the island and he also has new "state of the art" island facility that he is very proud of. Just a reminder as well there will be hot dogs and buns provided. Any one wishing to bring condiments to pass make sure they are in squeeze bottles. Bags of chips or similiar items are welcome. And you are welcome to bring anything else you may want to enjoy. But due to regulations make sure you keep any open containers of mac salad/potato salad/cole slaw/ etc. in your own boat.

Looking forward to Saturday. Bringing my slow, heavy egg-beater boat, as usual. Looking forward to shooting some action photos of everyone's boats. Looking forward to having my sorry ass handed to me repeatedly by those bad-ass jet boats.

Chet-- So, did you guys get "100 mph" Wildfire fixed up yet? I'll be disappointed if you guys can't bring her along for a grudge match or two. ;) The trash talking is always the loudest whenever you guys are drinking beer at the shore, the parking lot, or the garage. ;)

Aaron-- Certainly you meant the "slowest" Hydrostream, right? Less than 100 in a 'Stream is slow.

Sorry Chad, "Wildfire" is still ailing. I don't have the funds you have to get her back that quick. Oh and about the trash talk, it seems to me that you started it. First off I've never claimed 100 MPH. Maybe since you initiated that one you should have stayed out of the parking lot when you can't handle what goes on out there. I wish we could make Marble but like I said she's still broken but she'll be back one day and then you can show us 100MPH. Chet

Chet... Relax. If nobody trash-talked, there wouldn't be any grudge racing. I think it was your grandson who posted the GoPro video of "Wildfire breaking at 100 mph" on YouTube. You said you and Scott were "taking it easy" in the other GoPro video from Wamplers. However, the BBC is audibly turning the exact same 6000 rpm in both videos. So, either you guys were giving it all she's got as you slowly passed those 60 mph (Correction: 75 mph) jet boats, or the boat is actually faster than 100. Which one is it? Bullshitting counts as trash talk in my book. You threw a line, so I took the bait.

If you think I have any money, you're mistaken. I bought my boat 12 years ago with a bank loan while I was still living with my parents. I flipped a couple of old vintage amplifiers to pay for my motor swap. I tow with a rusty 12-year old 225,000-mile truck. I can't afford to fix either one of them if they break. I have a nice camera and love to take event photos, but I rarely ever get approached about buying prints. I drive to Marble Lake and other gathering events to participate and to help publicize the events for the love if the sport. Its passion. No more, no less.

I find it hard to believe a vested Ford retiree can't squeeze out a few spare bucks to help get that motor fixed.

You guys really need to lighten up.

Did you ever find out what made it scatter?

I've got no grudge with you" Pyro ". I realized after I made the post that my Grandson had said that it was doing 100 MPH or something to that effect. I don't really know what caused it to break. When we got inside we found one big mess. Crank in 3 pieces, cam bent, cylinder wall blown out, rods bent and I can't remember what else was busted. Before all this started we were having trouble with the way it was starting. As soon as I heard her blow, I thought to myself, Well we just found out what the starting problem was. We've got a new block going together and probably won't be back in the water till next year. I'll still see you at one of the meets. Chet

I called Dale yesterday and asked if he could request that people NOT park their boats along the Southwest corner of the island shoreline near the drag strip, as it completely blocks spectator view of the races, and makes it difficult to wade along the shore. He strongly agreed, and said he'd try to keep the shore clear of obstacles. This should help offer a better view of the races for everyone at the sandbar. :)

You're welcome. ;)

Just like last year, this stupid site won't let me post the photos I spent the entire day shooting. Even after I remove all the photos from the post, it won't let me post a new thread. I get the same error message, no matter what I post. Search for the photos on Scream and Fly. They actually know how to run a forum that works.

The following errors occurred with your submission

  • The number of tags you tried to add exceeded the maximum number of tags by 1.
Quit being a bitch and edit your tag line.

Ahhh.. I see the problem... The site automatically tried to turn the thread title into a tag list. I also had to split up the post to keep under the 10-photo-per-post limit. Thanks Lynn.
