All I can tell you is that a top fuel hydro that has twin shafts has a left and a right rotation prop on it witch is done in the gearbox, so that the boat goes strait. I dont know about io's, but I would say that the outdrive most likley has a right hand, and a left hand rotation. If it where me, id ask the open water gurus with the big boats. Just my two cents.
both motors spin same direction, clockwise! 1 rh and 1 lf is bestter for handling, and be careful how much horsepower your going to put through an alpha drive or they will self distruct!
If you run 2 rights, the rt one will overheat at high rpms, the water will blow away from the pickup in the lower unit on an alpha. Also it will torque steer. You definately need a rt and a left with any kind of power.

ok i take it both engines spin clock wize and the out drives are what spin left and right.witch on on which side and how do you tell them apart? what size props on 30ft x 8ft with 260 hp engines and what rpm aprox at 30mph
to tell direction on drives spin drive shafts and see what way the prop shafts are turning, right on right side, left on left.go to mercury racing .com and they have a prop slip calculator or just google prop slip and there's alot a good sites, better yet call julie at throttle up propellers in florida, she is a very nice and extremely brilliant prop woman.you need to know your lower unit gear ratios,
