Poker Run on the Fox River??

I saw the advertisements for this but nothing how the event actually was? Did anybody do this?

I grew up in Shawano, Wi, and my folks did a ton of boating on the Fox River and surrounding areas. I would very much like to take my father up there next year to this event. It would mean alot to me, and him.

I even thought about bringing our boat to Shawano Lake, my aunt and uncle have a beautiful house on the water. I would love to run the channel through town, but I don't think we would make it under some of the bridges.... I also don't know if there is a deep enough launch.

Anyway, next summer there might be a big Skater roaming around for a weekend or two.....

Hey I live here in Green Bay & would be more than willing to forward any info on the local Poker Runs to you! I have a cabin cruiser now but had a 21 ft Sleekcraft with a 454 jet drive before I got married! Had it on Shawano Lake also! All the info you want will cost you a few beers as we boaters in wisconsin don't deal in $ !! BEER---BOOBS---BOATS

Thanks for the offer.... I think the only thing I have to worry about is launching and weeds clogging my sea strainer, lol.

Is the bar by the sand bar still the Lighthouse Pub? Qwackers I think I heard? They have a launch but I don't think its over 12' wide. Hmm..... Maybe the state park?? In town behind Auto Prep? Is there race gas available in Shawano? There has to be......what do the stock cars run on....

I'm gonna try and make it happen for my dad. I will let everyone know when we are coming up.

We spoke last year briefly about it, the boat was still at Skater and just didn't get done. If they let me get AV gas at the airport, I'm all good......no alcohol, just 9 pounds of boost. I think Hucklberries would be good but I don't think I can make it under the bridges. My sponsons stick up pretty high.

We just got done putting in at LH. I paid more attention to how far across the weed Island is from the boat ramp. You can put in at LH, Just watch where you go on the way out to the lake as the channel is shallow on the sides. Might have to HOG up the center of the channel. If your boat can float in about 4 1/2 to 5 feet of water you will be ok.

Thanks for looking out man. Next time we launch I will try and see how much water I actually need to get the boat off the trailer.
