clean clean clean. i wd-40 everything that isnt ss on my engine and drive before and clean it well after. just do a good job washing your boat when you are done. salt away works good on my skis, should work well on the boat too. you should like the harbor. if the air races are here again ill be waching them form the boat. used to take the boat out to fleet week years ago when my navy cousin was stationed here. we were able to get really really close to all the action. there is always something to do in teh harbor. i actually like the harbor better than the bay.
I think the trailer gets the most abuse from the salt water. After flushing my engine with salt away, I used the salt away to wash off the trailer too--sure it helps a little. I think that would be awsome to launch in mission bay and go around the coast an into the harbor the head down south of the bridge. I get sea sick, but i wonder driiving a litlle faster in one of our boats will keep me from getting sick? I'm gonna try it! i can't wait to get past the bridge and really open it up.
Also Carlos mencia is playing at Humpries later in the year' We should get a crowd of Performance boaters together and anchor up for the show.
By the way, we are heading to Lake Havasu this weekend. I have not been there since 1971 when I was eight years old. All I remember of the place was the lightning storms, the bridge with the numbers on it when they put it together, that's it. I heard its changed a lot.
I'm glad you guys chimed in. I have a 25 Daytona and live 3 miles from Mission Bay, but don't want to destroy my trailer. Do you guys have any pointers for going into the salt water without destroying my boat.
El Cap is fun, but don't forget about the speed limit. I think its 35 MPH, but when you round the corner you can get on it a little bit. Watch out for the fishermen though, I think they consider the lake to be theirs. Also, if you decide to anchor up in a cove, bring a lot of rope. The coves actually get really deep. Also, I would try to get their before 9am...parking and 100 boat limit.
i have yet to go out this year to el cap. i went all summer last year and had tee typical el cap crowd. nothing too packed, but it gets full early. its nice with the hundred boat limit. the guys who fish and wakeboard get out of there by 10-11 and they keep the lake closed until 4 i think so you get a little break in the amount of boats. as for the harbor, ive been in the 2-3 foot chop on busy weekends with all the ferries and big boats, but its not that bad. my boat now is only 22' and take the chop well. your 25 cat will do well. south of the bridge you have some running room and its nice to cruise down through the coronado cays and see the water mansions. there are places to eat right on the water too. you have joes crab shack right behind the convention center, anthonys fish grotto right beside the star of india, and a couple other restaurants that im forgetting. there is plenty to do and i always enjoy cruising the harbor. its also fun to launch in mission bay, cruise south along the coast to point loma and into the san diego harbor. in the morning you get really nice water, and pods of dolphins that will follow you. its a blast.

El Cap is our favorite place, since its only 15 minutes from where we live. But I heard its a mess trying to get in the water there this year because of all the San V crowd is now using El Cap. You had any experience with it this year?
I do want to get over to san diego harbor. You ever been out there during the middle of the day when the chop is at its biggest?

I took the 240lbs of weight out of the nose and ran out to San Diego Mission bay today. With 5 peeps, we easily hit 90mph.
This was the first time I've taken the boat out since I bought it. I was really happy as it hardly had any bounce at 70mph and with 5 people the boat ran great, accelerated hard to 90 but I just did not feel comfortable trying to air it out with all the idiots on the wave runners out there. When I could see a safe pocket, I'd hammer it and the boat would set you back into the seat. I think it would easily taken a bigger prop. The bay was like victory at sea it was so rough, but the ride in my boat was still really smooth.
We were cruising around about 60-65 and just flying over that 1-3ft chop. I think there were some even bigger rollers from the big boats running around.
It was so fun hitting the big rollers and airing the boat out. The peeps riding with me had never been in a tunnel and they had grins ear to ear.
I have a 25 and I think mine weighs in at 4400 plus the trailer. I think 1300 might be a little heavy. I have a double axel and if I had to guess it weighs about 900-1000.

Do you know what size cooler fits in the cooler cutout? I need to get one. I guess I could measure it and go find one, but maybe someone knows where to obtain one.
