Whiskeytown IS still a hotboaters- heaven!

I still dont get why hot-boaters wont go to Whiskeytown Reservoir as it is one of the most phenomenal lakes in Norcal. And the stories about being hassled by Rangers for speed and noise is just plain BULL-BUTTER!.... I was just up there for that past week and ran my boat every single day, open headers, no-water, flat out;.... Mornings and Evenings mostly (to get the perfect water) and never was once approached by the Sheriffs Dept and only one Ranger came by to let me know about the "NO-wake zone" near the camp grounds.... I told him I was going as slow as idle would let me and thats the best I could do. He was pretty understanding and didnt really say much more! Dont think he knew much about boats anyway-He stated that I could go as fast as I wanted in the NO WAKE ZONE as long as I didnt leave a wake!!!!!

I didnt have the heart to tell him my boat doesnt leave any wake at 80mph!!!!

Heres a funny little video I took while we were playing around on the lake! This kid is a family friend that had never been in a 'speed-boat' of any type before.... I gave hime a little Joy Ride!

Hopefully it's getting more relaxed. Trinity is still an hour closer and a helluva lot bigger.

I get out there as often as I can. My folks live about 15 mins away. It is closer, more scenic, less crowded than Shasta. Pic is from a couple of weeks ago. I would like to get with some of you carboaters out there and show you the fast way around the lake.

That guy's face looked like it was stuck on "Ridiculous Smile" until the end! It's always fun to give someone their first performance boat ride....Mine isn't a blip on the screen compared to that V-drive- but it's still a big leap over ski boats.......

Dont know if anybody noticed but at about :28 seconds into the video the breather on the drivers side valve cover blows out of the cover and exhausts some oil.... It has been doing this now pretty often and is pissing me off.... but its only this valve cover. When I had 'this valve cover on the opposite head it did the same thing there. Never have a problem with the breather in the other cover.

That is great. Ive spent 28 of the 33 years of my life at that lake during the summer. We go up with a blown multi-colored day cruiser and hang out in whiskey creek under the bridge on one of the islands. My family is up there now through the 18th. I unfortunately missed this year, but it is the one vacation that i look most forward to all year. I did a lot of growing up there, especially after we made a trip to the brandy creek swim beach.

Noticed the breather fly away and had to watch the video a couple of times to see what it was. Had no idea the heads could build enough pressure in the covers to blow a breather. Could it be something as simple as a worn rubber grommet on the valve cover? Maybe the style of breather?

Congrats on an awesome boat... sounds incredible!

Thanks - yea Im thinking the grommet too, because it only does it on that valve cover, whichever side I put it on. It does blow some oil out though... lol did ya see the mist blowing out? Right before and right after it lets go.
