Default Any one have a v-drive prop near Lake County

I am currently running a Menkins 11.5x15 2 blade. I want to try more pitch. 17 pitch? . For a 1973 Sanger Ski Bubbledeck V-drive 6-71 blown 454 running 18 percent over on the Casale. Anyone within a hundred mile range of Lakeport, Calif have one to spare?

Don't know of any lake flats (blown or not) running more than a 16 pitch. I would leave the prop alone and go 25-29% gear. What does it spin with the 18's? Jocko

With the last engine (468 Naturally Aspirated), I was spinning it at 7100-7300 rpm WOT. Most of the time we cruise at 2500-3500 RPMs. Just trying to get the cruise down in between 2000-3000, but with the same MPH.

You definitely need more gear with now a blower motor! If the motor is fresh and strong, you could even go 32-37%. My blown 460" '72 Sanger gullwing flat spun 7,300 with 37% and a 15 pitch Cary 2 blade. If I remember right, I would ski slalom behind it at 2,600 rpm for approx. 34-36 mph. Jocko

I have a spare Menkins 11.5x17 2 blade prop over at my sons house.
Your welcome to try it if you want and see if it works for you.
But I do agree that you should change the gears in the v-drive.

It is the stock shaft. Not sure on the diameter. Will check.

Dropped the blower motor in the boat just recently. 30 minutes of run time so far. Then the weather got cool.

I think that Sanger used to recommend not going more than a 15" pitch and like the others have posted put some more gear in it. I have 45% in my sanger with a blown motor.

HOLY CRAP!!........Gary, you're finally posting on here. Alright!
Post up some pics on the thread 'Show them Sanger's' of your blown FORD powered flat. I think it's in the v-drive section. If this means your flat will hit the water in 2011, I promise I will haul down to North Carolina and run with you. Dave
