Default I want to go kick this guys ass.....

Brigette was mauled by a neighbors dog and her owners just dumped her off at the shelter weeks later like a piece of garbage in pain and literally dying.

If I meet these fuckers in an alley I will go "medieval" on their asses with a blowtorch and pliers.

Nat and the great people at the Lange foundation are all over nursing her back to health, but this kind of shit is unacceptable to me and I will initiate unthinkable agony to anyone I ever catch pulling this shit. The Lange foundation wont tell us who they are which is probably a good thing right now.

Dammit Im pissed about this GRRRRRRRR.

    A very fucking unhappy...

the bigger issue is that the "shelter" isnt pressing charges of animal cruelty against the people that dropped off the animal. their first priority should be the care and health of the animal, not the owners. im sure if you got the local animal control or police involved this situation would change quickly. any animal capable of doing this to another animal is capable of doing it to a human/small child.

There is no excuse for that.

When i was 7 or 8 we were headed to Grandma's house for a holiday.

My dad locked the brakes, jumped out in the middle of the road and flew into some guys yard and proceeded to kick the living Shit out of him.

Guy was kicking the Shit out of his dog on a leash I guess in such a manner that stood out.

    I remember it like yesterday.

We always had the neglected or otherwise on the farm.

All 3 of my animals are unwanted, best behaved in the neighborhood.

    Good for you for caring.

Bridgette was picked up a a high kill shelter and taken on by the Lange Foundation who scour the local high kill shelters for savable animals, and sometime complete basket cases like hers.

The shelter will not press charges against anyone- to do so risks no animals being brought in for rescue and in turn dying alone, sick and starving on the street.

Most people that drop off an animal concoct a story that it isnt theirs - or tell the foundation/shelter that they simply discovered the animal.

Poncho- your dad probably deserved a medal..

Does she actually have a home now? I have four (three of which I picked up off of the road) and a 18-month old black Lab that we won the bid on at Make-a-Wish Gala here in town (fund raiser).

Anyway, my dad just lost a dog that he saved off of the side of the road. She went EVERYWHERE with him. He just picked up a dog from a shelter, and she has started going EVERYWHERE with him. However, he could use another dog, and would accept something like Brigette. He and I are gluttons for "project" dogs like these.

To change the mood some more (up-beat), here is my latest save from about two years ago: Her name is Maggie. She was wandering along side a highway north of town. When I first approached her, she wouldn't come to me. She appeared to be staying at a nearby hay-yard with some other dogs. She looked much worse than this, as these pics are after she was cleaned up. This was her first day here, though - straight home from the vet. My vet always splits the bill with me when I bring a stray for clean-up. She appeared to only be about a year old, which is why I feel she bounced-back so well.

She had "mange (mites)" and had been sprayed with some pretty heavy chemicals out in the fields/orchards. She was also sunburned from not having hair in most areas. Her skin was very scabby and peeling/cracking. Her eyebrows and paws were so swolen, they were hardly recognizable as dog paws.

The vet sent home some Rx "antiseptic" shampoo and we put her on a slew of anti-biotics, de-wormed, etc. The "normal" stuff. I washed her in the shower every day with the Rx shampoo. Within a few days, she started getting "peach fuzz" on all of her bare areas. I was amazed that any hair was going to grow back at all. She could barely stand on her own, so I hand-fed her soft, wet food for the first few days. She then started eating dry food on her own. By the third day, she could walk normal and even started to "trot" from time to time.

At the two-week mark, she had most of her hair back, and had started running and jumping with the other three dogs and had fully became one of the pack. They taught her the rules of the house and basically did all of the potty training for us. Whenever she began moving around looking for a "place", one of the other dogs would alert us. We would just open a door and the three dogs would summon her out to the grass area. She learned quickly.

Here she is today, and one of the best dogs I have ever known. She is so thankful to both of us and cuddles with either me or (mainly) my wife:

So, depending on how old Brigette is, she will hopefully make a great recovery. If she still needs a home, I MIGHT be able to make that happen. No promises. Does she have a permanent home?

Nat will be heading to the Lange foundation in a few days as shes been nursing me back to health and Ill get better pictures and a fist hand update.
(I had a kidney removed last week after being diagnosed with kidney cancer)

The little pict is the latest and the bigger one was her first day home form the hospital (she was infected big time and needed intensive care.

Maggie looks awesome! Ill bet she's a real love.
I know thw basket case syndrome- I have 3 rescues myself.
What a terrible basket case you got her as though but what a great ending!

    stay tuned.
