Does anybody else have a "Heavy Fuel Vapor" smell coming from the engine compartment?
My dealer says to "live with it!". My truck has been in the shop six times for the same problem. Can't use the otside air supply while driving. Dealer says "Keep it on recycle and you won't smell that smell".

Don't seem right to me. My first Duramax.
    Comment:

I have had that diesel smell come into the cab several times. I notice it when I back up or standing in traffic---it just happenned again yesterday.

It does not seem to be a everyday problem and I can use the outside air no problem. I was thinking the fuel water separator might be leaking as the fuel pressures are really high.

Thought, you would like to know your not the only one with that issue. It seems to be intermittent---if it gets any worse it will go to the dealer.

If you HAVE to run the recycle air full time, and the dealer can't find out where the smell is comming from, I would take it to another dealer or contact a lemon law attorney. One website (another forum) that I have been going to quite a bit is www.dieselplace.com There is alot of very useful info over there on the duramax's.

First post in this thread will have some interesting info on the smell. Take this to your dealer and ask if he has investigated this as one of your possible problems.
