Default Mexico ride in February need helpful hints

Okay so I am gonna do it for the first time this February. Taking the Harley into Mexico by way of Nogales and riding to Mazatlan with a friend or two. There we will catch the ferry to Baja and ride to Cabo to meet up with the wife and friends before riding north back home by way of the penninsula.

I've done the Baja trip a few times but this is the first mainland trip for me. Anyone have any experience they can share about this drive?
Any long distances between available gas stations like in Baja?
Any reccomendations for lodging in San Carlos?
I hear the road is divided and tolled?

Any help you can give appreciated.

I can help you with San Carlos. As we draw closer, let me know when you're going to be there and I just might be down there. Need to go down to the boat anyway.

This is your best choice for hotels:

It's right on the marina and there are a handful of restaurants, and bars, within stumbling distance.

Well, uh, of course it does! I will try to remember that! Haha! Thanks Joe!
The date is now a week later so should I still not drink the water?

Sounds like a fun ride, I wish I could get the time off to do some thing like. we need to put together a local ride, maybe a over nighter to Bishop or Mammoth in the spring.

Rick, here's what you need to know:

Botilla de agua. (Bo-tee-ya day a-wa for you gringo types)

Bottled water. Never had a problem with it from Cabo to Puerto Vallarta all the way back around up to San Carlos and Rocky Point. I stopped taking bottled water down with me even. Just get it down there.
