    Default Southwind Tunnel "Double Nickel"

    Hello,
I'm looking at buying a Southwind Tunnel and was wondering if anyone had any opinions on those hulls good or bad? Some of ya'll might know the boat it's Ronnie Eckel's "Double Nickel" that he raced CSDBA some years ago. as far as I know it's still setup the way he left it and it's like a 9 out of 10 on the condition. So any info ya have would be great.

    Thanks,
    Kane (splat709)

I'll post one up this evening, it's one of Ronnie makeing a pass not sure when or were. He passed away in Dec '08 of cancer. The Double nickel was the first jet boat I was ever around. Ronnie Eckel and Larry Tuttle both learned me a little about jets and alot more about vdrives. they got me hooked but both of them are gone now. So it's kinda cool to get shot at Ronnies boat, maybe go racin next year?

Thats really cool that you get a shot at owning a mentors rig. And its a great back story. I think as far as the racing goes, it wouldnt let you down. From the picture it looks like its makin a hand

By the way those fuel tanks fit perfect in my Stevens SK, it's going to be put on hold till winter though for lack of $$$$$ since I'm buying the tunnel. I'll maybe bring it up to Okmulgee lake in a couple weeks. Hows your Nordic coming along?

I seen that boat on ebay months ago with a carb'd motor in it. My family has told me stories about the boat and how it ran. Most racers in the midwest know of it and Ronnie. It was setup and Ronnie had it running hard. Just to plug mine, I will sell mine if you dont buy the double nickel.
