    Aren't they all reverse starters on most jets because of where they mount? Mine hangs straight out the back instead of being tucked under the header but you'all hotrod's may mount different.

    Hey Dave If you have a top mount starter thats a plus, there easyer to work on but more expensive to replace. glad to see your gathering parts. Got the Ol Taylor in the shop helping Spank get the motor bolted down. He is looking foward to next season

    Let us know how things are going with your rigs, I fixin to get a block preped for the new motor in the cheyenne and get started on that build.

    no, most of the hot rodders are tucked under the header, i think alot of the boats came factory with the reverse rotation starter, but of course the factory motors ain't putting out the torque, horsepower and compression we all do.
    i'm just not sure how dependable the reverse rotation starters are under our conditions.

    If I remember right when I had mine rebuilt at the start of the season my starter guy said you can reverse rotation on any of them, but may not include those high torque one's. Check with an ol'school starter guy it don't hurt to ask and may be a lil cheaper.

    Default starter-------> retrats

    I know that Glastron that Tommy had for a little while with the ford motor in it had a couple of places you could mount the starter. I would think that with a covered engine the starter on top would be the way to go!

    Personally my vote is keep the top mount. Run it till it breaks if nothing else. Most of those bell housings have the provisions for both top and bottom mount starters. If you ever get in a position where the top mount goes out and your stranded you can install a normal starter to get you going again.

    I would bet the reason you don't see them on the higher HP boats is because most use motor plates. No provision on a motor plate for a top mount starter.
