Default War Canoe wants your valued opinion...

We are prepping for the Parker race and have 2 possible race strategies ...

    Here's the deal..

We won class 5 in 2010...

    We won class 6 in 2011 ...

We are slated to be in class 5 again for 2012 ... We feel we could get our third consecutive class win, and even have a shot at a podium finish and get a trophy...

    OR ...

move all the way to the back of the field in Class 7 ... and race the real heat in this race, Randy Davis and Gordon Jennings .... Personally, I am tired of those guys mopping the field in their 1500 HP monster Nordic.

I know I can't run their lap times...but we can run sub 4 minutes for the 6 mile course ...
I know we have 5 times less HP ...but we get over 4 mpg wide open, they get 1 mpg.

Davis and Jennings HAVE to pit, and we have the ability to run 300 miles without stopping ...

I figure we could make a real race for them if we pin it for 300 miles without stopping...

My trophy would be the overall time the War Canoe puts on the record ... and maybe some respect from those that talk smack about the Outboards...

    The Church needs your feedback...

and, if Davis and Jennings break, we pit and win class 7 .... Who has won class 5, 6, and 7 IN THE SAME BOAT ????

I like this shot of me and the "Bully" just before the start of the 2010 Parker.

I think Spanking Randy and Gordy would be worth it. Win lose or draw. Trophy or not. It might not be official but they would have been SPANKED and they would know it. And guess what. YOU would have been the one to have done it.

Well Scotty, I'd say Class 7 sounds cool, because you've already won the other divisions. However, try and beat the Nordics through your no-pit strategy and/or attrition on their part. Stepping on your setup to get the maximum speed out of the Canoe would not be the direction I would take, after seeing what happened to Joe last year. The Canoe is fully capable of running 100+ down the straights with no rules in Class 7, but I don't think this would be in you and your brother's best interest. If you want Joe's #, I'll give it to you and you can call him and ask him what he thinks (I think you already know what he'd say). I want to see you guys around for many years to come, and seeing one friend critically hurt in that race was enough..........

I realize this isn't the "safest" route to go, but I really want to open a real can of whoop ass once out there... I want to run from the farthest back position and lay down 50 fast ones ... I have many hours at 100 MPH + in my boat. Big Steve does as well.. We would have to flip a coin to see who would drive, but either way, one of the Nolind Boyz is going to be behind the wheel and we know we can average over 90 MPH with no problem..

I spoke with my crew chief today ... He was a little leery of this David and Goliath match-up, but he knows our lap times... and maybe a DBR race motor will happen to show up in the scenario, and all of a sudden a 3:50 average is on the table ..that translates to pressure on the Nordic and crew...We ran under 4 min in 2010 several laps with a bone stock motor...The DBR will give us the afterburner we are looking for.

    Speaking of my crew chief...

Here's a few shots from my visit to him today at his Church Lair...

and now you know why he is our crew chief.

    From left to right...

102 MPH Allison fishing boat ...

    Sweet V-8 pontoon..

    280 Merc on a 21' V-bottom Ski racer ...

21' Cougar Carbon Fiber Lay-up..115 MPH

    300 Pro Max on a 21' V-Bottom Ski Racer ...

    Dave Hemmingson's one off stepped Hull 19" Daytona 350 LB Hull W/ 280 Merc...We expect 120 MPH +

Wild Bill is qualified to call the shots !

    Default Insurance

Few people realize that the first "Handicapped" Enduro, about 7 years ago now was going to be dropped by the insurance company on Wednesday before Saturday's race. Some of my friends in "HIGH PLACES" stuck their neck out because I told them the race would be "SAFE".

The two mandatory pit stops are really for several reasons:

    1. Re-Fuel of course

    2. Check over your equipment, like steering hardware

    3. Check the driver over and see if he or she is OK to go again

A planned violation of any safety rule (s) could be disastrous for this race and future race.

I have not agred with the rules for about four years now, but I have not violated the rules.

    All good points...

    All well taken...

Looks like stopping will be a must. Crap, I had a real low ET in mind !!!! Well, with a pit, a driver change can occur ...that makes it better if we both drive. The insurance part of this deal did slip my mind. That is why I asked for your valued opinion. I knew I would get honest and intelligent replys. Maybe a pit strategy like first pit on lap 48 ...and the second pit on lap 49...You comply with the rules, yet still maximizing laps completed.

Oh come on now! Your going to listen to Stink Bait!
Heres a pic when he was prepping for a race at the WAR (Western Allison Rally) the trolling motor race!

I know Dave could build you the engine.

I ask you is it worth it, there were 10+ + boats that passed Joe and his boat before 1 (ONE) stopped to help.
Sorry to rain on your parade.

i can see rons point on playing by the rules...if you think that you and the canoe have legit shot to win class 7 without pushing beyond your limits i still say go for it! it would be bad ass to see an outboard on top again especially if it is a by the book win!
