Since I have a 21 Cougar MTR that is running a best speed of 115 GPS with a stock 280 and 112 with my friend Rex sitting right behind me and at the time he was a little over 300 lbs. Believe me we are looking very closely at that bottom and taking notes. Gary as far as putting a lip on the center pod I'm not sure about that yet.
All I can say is this boat is turning out to be a real challenge. Yes it would be nice to run a big number but more than that it needs to carry a load. 2010 when we tested for the Parker we were able to run 104 with a full load of fuel at the lake we test on. 2011 dropping the motor down an inch we were below a 100 when loaded to race. I sure would like to get back to where we were in 2010 even though our motor will be an inch lower. Loaded light with the motor raised I would be tickeled to see 110 mph. The other big thing that we need to improve is the boats ability to turn better. We do have some outside the box ideas but have no clue if they will work.
Inner spray rails yes, narrowing the center pod, no, not with the load you guys are carrying. A lip or wedge is easy enough to modify or remove quickly even at the boat ramp if it does'nt work out. I added a good sized lip to the forward pad on my HST and it helped pop off the corners a ton.
Work has been completed on the War Canoe. Steve and I flipped it back over and slid the trailer back under it. For now the motor height has been set at where they need to run at the Parker which is level with the bottom of the center pod. I can't wait to see how this work has affected the speed and handling of the boat.
