Trying to figure out how much a 2000 300x will consume when driven at a normal crusie speed around 3500 rpm. Just found out how much a gallon of good oil costThey jumped the prices up since I had the Baker.

Found 2 stroke oil online in gallon containers for a good price. Everyone that was at work was telling me it was 50 to 60 a gallon. These were prices for 2 stroke high end oil. Just wanted to factor in the cost of fuel and oil. So if anyone wants to let me know post it up. Thanks

full 100% pennzoil 2stroke outboard is like $76 for 3 gallon case
it might be overkill for a 300x that only revs 6800 max,you could go with a less expensive oil?
i run it in my drag merc that turns 10200rpms

Pennzoil premium plus can be had for
$16/gallon. I bought it in quart containers at AZ in long beach, the the Parker store has it for the same price in gallon jugs. It's as good or better than
the merc stuff according to the guys on scream&fly.

The price for the penzoil sounds great. I do not want to go cheap one of the powerheads will be new. I hope that it will be. Still trying to work out the details of it all. I had a test run of the boat and one of the rebuilt engines diedheart broken. It only had 2 hours or so on it and comp tested 100%. Not the owners fault or dealers fault. How do you break a two stroke in? Do you run it up and let cool off or just go through the full range of rpm and operate as normal. Just want good know. I would love to run good oil just do not want to pay 50 to 60 a gallon.
Our 300xs had a "break-in-mode ....The motor use about twice the normal amount for a few hours ...stay under 4000 ...don't hold it at one setting for a long time.
Always good to ask the builder.
If you had the option to sell the 300x motor and use a 300xs, I think you would be ahead of the game. Strictly performance, the 300x is a little stronger, but you will pay dearly in additional fuel and parts. We have put 550 hours of wide open abuse on our Canoe...2 Parkers...endless 100 MPH runs thru the Delta...reliability has been excellent.
Just sayin' if you had a choice...![]()
I run them on the hose for 10 minutes and check them over for leaks, then to the ramp with a test wheel verify timing at operating temp, run at various rpm's for a half hour then to the lake following the factory break in. Penzoil semi syn or XLF is a very very good oil you'll have no issues with.
That is what Bullhead Bully keeps telling me. I want to run at a good speed and do the Powell run with him. He is telling me to do the repower. Do the 300xs get you out of the hole easy? Also thanks for the possible break in tips. Keep subiting them.
Just got back from Lake Powell for one week. I am completely exhausted and it feels great !!!
The 300 XS comes on plane Great at Powell I went from 34 bravos to 30 Bravos and the boat is totally happy .
As we all know if you want top-end Powell is not the place to get it , come down to the Lower River in February and we'll make any boat run faster no problem with that.
The XS motor is probably the easiest motor to break-in as it is all computer-controlled you really cannot screw up , it even regulates the double mixture in break-in and then when it's calculated that it's broken in it will just let the engine go to full power. You really can't go wrong with that motor.
What did you end up doing with the Howard ?
