Default Who works your props? Prop Suggestions?

I need a prop repaired/reworked. Who do you guys trust? I am located in SoCal but am willing to ship it out.

I am running a 21 Daytona with a 260, 15" of setback, 1 1/2 above the pad. Right now I have a labbed 26 Lightning ET (came with the boat) and with two people and quarter tank of gas I am only getting about 82 MPH @ 7,400 RPM (15% Slip).

I just had Brucato dial in the injectors, installed new fuel lines from the pump, pressure gauge, and filter. I thought one of these might be the issue but only got a slight improvement. I would like to be able to run above 8,000 with a light load. I was thinking about stepping down to a 24 Lightning ET.

    Any thoughts?

I use Kevin @ R&R Prop Shop. While he works on everything, he races a Stoker in the COR sprint class and the 2.0l class in the Parker Enduro. Also owns a Hydrostream HST and STV River Rocket, so very well versed in OB stuff. 702-564-7502.

Hey dude after our talk yesterday i took out my stv, in these temps you might be about there with that combo, this heat kills the output of these engines, my talon power to weight is 540hp ish to 2200# stv 280 to 1500# your 21' is 1700+ with 260hp then factor in the degraded power from these temps...

Since you already jacked up your 26et, send it to JJ and have him make it a 25 or 24", that should get you closer to 7600+ regardless I was shocked at the loss on my stv yesterday, when just the day before my talon was screaming, oh yeah i have 2 engines!

JJ Gibbs here in Havasu, Gibbs Propeller Service

If that dont work for ya, send that powerhead to DBR or JSRE for a 330hp upgrade, that should get you in the 3 digit bracket, for a while anyways

Something isn't quite wright that's almost 16% slip. It would be good to see a side view picture of your boat at 82 mph. Assuming that your prop hasn't been molested by someone. The slip number bothers me the most. You may have to much weight forward and the boat is glued in. If you can borrow a 22 or 24 stock Chopper II or ET and go out and rule out any motor problems. It should rev right to the limiter if you have one. If it does than you may have to much weight up front. A side view picture at WOT would help a lot. One of the reasons I mentioned a Chopper II is they would have more bow lift than the ET. Having the prop worked isn't going to help if you have other setup problems. A stock 26 ET on a properly setup boat like yours should run between 6 and 8 % slip. Your type of boat is sensitive to where the weight is placed. Front to back and also side to side. These are just my opinions from past experience with very similar boats.

Yea I have been wanting to try a small prop also just to see if it will rev. I am pretty sure It's getting enough bow lift. I will recheck my numbers as far as the slip% goes. At this point I am again convinced its a power issue. I had it in a reputable shop right when I bought the boat last year and I was told the compression and fuel pressure were fine. I am going to pull the heads and replace all the fuel lines asap. I still need to get my prop cleaned up that I mangled.

    Default I had a 21' Daytona ...

You should be sub 10% slip ....85-90mph is easily in that combo...

Weight positioning is critical for best numbers...If your Daytona is like mine, you are sitting off balance to start with a right or left hand drive...

    Fuel load and placement...

Try EVERY prop you can get your hands on....some will amaze you.

The Daytona is heavy ...(compared to an STV) Props you wouldnt think of sometimes are way better than you'd assume..

We run Bravos, Trophys, Hoss, Hydromotive, B-Blades, Pro ET's, Cleavers and Choppers....We use ALL of them in different conditions...Thru hub and over the hub.

We are running a 300xs, but you get the point.

Testing is EVERYTHING...No testing? Little results.

ONE change at a time...WRITE DOWN THE RESULTS OF EVERY TEST FOR PERFORMANCE HISTORY.

Running attitude is most important ...no nose wavers !!!

Get some props and post your notes !!
