HELP I.D a 2.4? MERC

Can anybody help me confirm What powerhead this is?
Welch plug is stamped 5805940 and the bore is approx 3.387"
it has 5 petal reeds horizontally mounted.
A friend got screwed on this powerhead, Don't really want to go into the story in details.
It looks pretty good other then some porosity in two cylinders just above the porting.
I have been told by some, that porosity is common, "just run it". This is for his fishing boat, not a race setup at all.

Spurious Fault Racing.

The porosity is normal ...both of my 2.4s have it. I wish all my cylinders looked that good. Based on your serial number, it looks to be a 80-81 either 175hp or 200hp.
