I'm not sure what the motor in this picture runs. It's not their blown alcohol motor - just a dual carb/tunnel ram setup which I'm guessing runs on gasoline. All I know is that a well set-up naturally aspirated 'car motor' would push this tunnel a good 140 plus for 300 miles no problem (if it had a VI drive on it). And being 22' long and probably 2,000+ lbs, it would lay down the water better than any Champ or F1 boat possibly could.

The Parker 300 is a great race and this is what I saw ,just a bunch of Old School Boats having a great time many of the boats were made in the 80's the Outboards and GN boats
stuff you bulid in the garage, I would like a few rule changes, but I would not like to change the character of the race itself. we sat with Al Stoker dad John and he was telling us of the lemans starts of the past you run to the boat and out a gang plank and go in his day I bet some how SS has the picture

Funny you should mention "old school". Show me a brand new hull design of the last decade that has set the world on fire in boat racing.

The problem with that is the rules. I have a new hull, but with the way the rules are writen about strake size and steps in the hull, I can't run it. Other than div VII, 50 minutes behind the rest of the boats. The APBA GN rules are old school. I don't see it changing any time soon, and why would it. These old boats look good, sound good, and still haul ass. And easy to find, and it keeps racing costs low, other than the motors that can get up there.

The GN rules were changed in 2001 following 2 fatal accidents. The boats were slowed down and grouped together from what used to be 3 GN classes.

My comment wasn't directed towards the 300 but more towards lack of hull advancement over the last decade. I probably could've said the last 3 decades.

As far as the 300 rules go I have no comment. The enduro was gone and these guys revived it. That's good enough for me.

So many of the guys hit it on the head, It is an East Coast, West Coast thing. Look at the classified ads from Fla, then go to Cali... Personally in the next year or so I will be looking for a 28-30 cat with twin outboards, I am really familiar with them, easy to work on, and my yammi ox66 motor is bulletproof (please dont blow up after I say that!!)...I love to look at the pics of lake havasu, would love to make a trip out there with Mov'in Bones....!!
