Serviced my 85 omc 235 beginning of summer, I just had something flash thru my head which is that when my friend was putting my prop back on I don't remember any grease being applied to the shaft. Tomorrow I am going to change the lower unit oil, pull the prop and grease the shaft. I also used the fiber blue looking gaskets for the lower plugs, I got some nylon ones to replace them with.
So my questions are....

1. Is there a certain grease to use??

2. I used Aisyn synthetic gear oil last time, I am out of it so I will have to grab some Merc Hi Per gear oil, should that hurt anything with a good flush??

3. My prop has about 1/8" of play if I pull on it is that normal?

It won't hurt it to put merc hipo and the play is normal. I have been abusing mine with alsyn for four years and am sold on it.
