    Default 300XS low water pickup

Here's the low water pickup line I had fab'ed for my Opti. The Pro Et I'm running holds water so well that I can run the jackplate higher than the waterpickup will pick up water. This will definetly cure my problem. Just ran the boat from the marina to my house and at 85 mph I had 30 lbs of water pressure. I've got a ball valve in the boat that I can partially close to regulate the pressure.

Hello DR that looks very custom and professional. I have several questions.

    1. I'm pretty sure this through hull water-pickup will void your factory 2 year coverage.
Can you comment on this it does not seem prudent if you lose the warranty?

    2. Who did you get the kit from or did you fab it yourself or through known sources?

    3. You indicate your running a Pro Et are you on the limiter with that prop? Can you comment
about the propeller characteristics I assume your running a 32 lab due to your hull weight being very light.

Lastly can we have some additional photos...really like what your doing with this project.

Hey Kap, no it doesn't void the warranty that I know of (it should only help by the computer never seeing low water pressure/high temp). No it is not a kit - I had to have everything fab'ed and I installed it. As for the props, I'll get back to you on that in a couple weeks, as I am still testing and waiting on some new props. When I get it all sorted out, I'll let you know what is working best.

Can you post photos of the water pickup on the hull and the routing in the boat including the location of the ball valve.

Do you use a sea strainer what about all the junk being picked up by the pickup......seems to me it would be necessary one chunk of river grass and your motor is toast????

Were you having problems with water pressure? What psi were you at that you decided you needed this?

I'm curious how those Pro ET's work.

I just got my bravo 1 XS back from Merc where they tweaked them a bit as I was on the limiters.

Yes, I am able to run my engine higher than the low water pickup can provide adequate pressure. When the pressure gets down around 7 psi it goes into guardian mode. So to be able to run such extreme heights, I need the supplemental water from the low water pickup. And the reason for the high engine heights is greater top speed. As for props, Pro ETs work very well on single engine applications, but I'm not sure about twins. I honestly don't know what works well on your setup, as I've never owned a twin with a centerpod. My 28 Skaters worked best with Cleavers, but they are a very different setup than you have. All I can say is to try any sets of props you can get your hands on if they are in the correct pitch range for your setup, as you NEVER know what is going to work well and what is not. I do highly recommend Brett Anderson at BBlades, he's a really good guy and has a broad knowledge of high performance setups.

My best top is with Herring cleavers but my hole shot to roll over sometimes sucks depending on homw i'm loaded which is why I decided to try the merc bravo xs's. I was on the limiter's with the 30's so I sent them back to get tweaked and looking forward to try them out next week. Water pressure hasn't been an issue for me yet with our shaft length and setup, which is why I was asking about your pickup deal incase I was missing something. Thanks for the info.

dre, so your saying your 30 is on the rev limiter .does this mean you are seeing 102 mph because thats 10 % slip . i hope this is true !!!

I wish!!! I thought the bravo's were 28's but when Merc received them and called to talk about what we needed done I seem to recall him saying they were 30's and did I want them tweaked to 32's.

With the cleavers I can trim up to about 9-10 for best top end. With the Merc's when i started trimming up, at about 5 i was on the limiters getting overrev warnings on the smartcraft and that was at about 87 mph.

We'll see next week after the 4th as i'll have all week to do some testing. Only down side is the humidity is supposed to set in which i'm sure will effect things. I think in order to reach that 100-110+ i'd have to add a third motor
