I thought this was the place to get schooled....... Hello is anyone out there?

Someone must know what kind if Haul I have sitting in my driveway...?

Is this haul worth investing a few grand into and labour.... Boat In very good condition but needs new seats, and an motor... Or possibly reuse the old one for a while...

What's the largest engine or best choice for an outboard to make this a Fun boat.....? ( the boat came with a running 75hp outboard

Any input or advice would be much appreciated

Not sure what brand it is, but it sure looks like some home made engineering to turn a V-drive into an outboard. It should be fun, throw the engine back on it and go play.

It doesn't look like it was ever a v-drive to me.... I suggest you haul that haul to the dump. That is my expert opinion.

I am not the expert nor did I play one or stay in a Holiday Inn...That said it looks like a converted V Drive that has modified to run an outboard.

The Flat Bottom is gonna bet you up in chop but should be great in smooth water. Not an Ocean or Off Shore boat.

It would all depend on what you want out of the boat and what you are willing to put into it. How is the Wood Floor, Stringers and Transom?

If these need attention do you have the tools, skill, material and time to do the work?

Figure interior at around $1000 to what ever you want to spend ($1000 being a bare minimum) ( I would guess more like $3500 to have seat frames built and covered)

Paint again what do you want...Buy a case of rattle cans and Rat Rod it or I was just quessimated thousands for what I would like my boat to look like.

Power and rigging, again what do you want to do $1000 plus for a used 125-150 HP and then rigging.

Then you are most likely gonna want Trim Tab to get the bow down at around $500.00 plus rigging.

Figure you can stick a motor on it, couple cushions for your knees and maybe get a floating boat on the water for $2000.

Done right with interior, paint, newer motor, rigging $8000 to $10,000 when you are done and a lot of what the heck have I done moments

Not to forget about the Fuel Tanks....Old boat with rust tanks....add another $600.00 Plus.

Not to forget things like Like Jackets, Fire Extinguisher, horn, paddle and all the other safety stuff you need.

All the above taken into consideration....You can buy a turn key boat (used) for $5000 or less and not spend the next 2-5 years working to get on the water.

Myself, I would offer it up for sale and hope a Sanger Fan who really wants a project bought it and save myself the headache of getting in over my head.

    Just my opinion.

Ok, I'll turn the filter on and try again.

Based on the pics (which do not include ANY of the inside) this boat does not look like it was ever a v-drive. The transom shape and delta pad say outboard to me. Given the obvious fact that there is no engine and NO PICS giving us any clue to the condition of the inside I would say throwing a bunch $$ at this thing may not be the smartest option. You can find running boats in much more restorable condition (fairly complete) and on the cheap these days. Keep the trailer for your jet skis and burn the hull.

Good answer except the boat in question isn't a flatbottom.

I don't know but post #4 Mid way shows a Pretty Much Flat Bottom with the original Trim Plate. Then again a Flat Bottom Here might be a semi Mod V there with no Strakes.

I'm going with semi V with a possible delta pad here.

    This is a flatbottom.

I am kind of looking for a project, and have my heart set on this as the project.... Not looking for $ 100,000.00 boat, just something that runs nice with some cool looks and that will be fun crusing the few lakes that are close by to where i live.

As for skills, i have many, and I'm always looking to learn and hone new skills along the way. Tools ibhave more than i need, but never enough, i also have a shop as well to work on this during the winter months. This isn't the 1st major project i have taken on, (69' Chevelle 98' TJ, 97' XJ, 97 ZJ), custom built tube frame buggie)all built by myself with some help from friends. But this will be my 1st introduction to boats. But I'm looking forward To it.....

The whole interior needs to be redone, along with the floors and some stringers are showing signs of rot. Probably replace the works while I'm at it. The seats look simple enough to fab up, and even to cover with fabric. Or i could just use my racing buckets from my old rock buggy

The haul looks to be in very good shape and the paint when cleaned up is satisfactory for the time being. I Also have a friend who is auto-body technician.... So if i need glass work or paint i have someone who can help out.

The Engine i have is nothing fancy 75hp outboard ( unsure if brand off the top of my head) but it runs....

I already scooped up two cylindrical stainless steel gas tanks that for in the rear haul.

I would agree with your assessment. I am no expert, but that hull doesn't look like a Sanger to me...At least I have never seen a Sanger like that.
The worst day boating is better than the best day doing just about anything else!!
