Default Tunnel Tabs on a 21 Daytona,

I posted this in the jet section and didnt get many replies so I thought I would try over here

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a set of tunnel tabs from a 22 Daytona and have been
considering installing them on my 21 Daytona.
I’m thinking they would help in slow to cruise speeds, and are basically
Not doing anything once it starts packing air in the tunnels. I have seen them on the
Southwind tunnels. These are manually adjustable and fit my tunnels perfect plus this would be a perfect time to install them since my boat is stripped. Could they cause any ill effects? will they do any good?

Tunnel Tabs are a win win as long as they a adjustable . I would not build a small tunnel without them ..As long as you can bring them up above the water and down when you need them you should have a winner..Good luck

I put them on my 22' Daytona and it was the best investment ever...Plane time is cut in half, 14 MPH and I am on top, no porpoise at top end...

The only drawback is if you load the boat with people, jump a big boat wake, and land with the tabs first(nose high) you can snap the mount on the transom. We beefed up the mounts and have had better luck. Do it, you will love the results.

these are from Eliminator, not sure who actually built them.

they are polished aluminum plates , and an angle that bolts to the transom and to the plate
with turn buckles for the adjustment, I will get a pic tonight.
so they would not be adjustable on the fly. but if they would help my plane time,
thats what I'm looking for. My boat lifts onto the sponsons at about 65 so at this point all they would do
is help keep some air in the tunnels?

from what I have read I should set them level with the tunnels , is this correct?

I added them to my 22 Daytona also. It made it plane a little easier but, it removed all the porpoise on the top end. (Good investment)

Don't run those...Get the hydraulic ram tabs...I used Lenco. Those may help a little, but the adjustable trim is the real deal. The Lenco tabs are not cheap...But you get what you pay for. If you run your boat loaded, the ability to put the tabs down pulls the nose over way better. My .02.
