    Default oops,came in too fast

Tapped the dock a little too hard on the nose coming in…looks like I was doing 10+ MPH in the pics…would like advice on what materials to use to make a solid repair…I understand there are multiple choices for the resin, mat cloth, and bondo like filler and anything else needed…

I can’t get to the inside of the boat so the repair has to be done as seen from outside…

I have not done glass work since the 70’s on my vette…your input is most appreciated as to the best way to handle this job…the paint repair will be a different subject since it is Rolls-Royce blue auto paint with POR15 clear coat…

The first and second pic shows the damage from the top and the busted piece is held on by the paint and clear coat…the other pics shows damage from the front and the top chunky piece is the broken part held on by the paint/clear coat as shown in the first two pics which will be cut and thrown away I think…

The pre-requisite for info on the repair is spilling-guts on what happened to cause said damage.

    A) Reverse failed

    B) Beer CAUSED reverse to fail

    C) Inexperienced boater was in charge of reverse

    D) Both B & C

We've all been there - just as well let everyone learn from our mistakes.

A couple of decades ago I had one that was worse than that. Found out the hard way my trailer tongue had a ball adjustment. Boat cam un hitched ate 75 on I-15. Touched the brakes and the nose of my flatty hit smacked my bumper. I came home stuffed a tennis ball in the hole in the front of my boat. I took a beer box and duck tape to form where the bottom/front of the boat use to be then stuffed a can of kitty hair in there. Once the kitty hair set.....I took a belt sander to get the shape close. I left the kitty hair short or shallow enough that I was able to follow after with a couple of layers of glass over the whole thing and tying it into the undamaged portion of the boat...if that makes sense. Follow with a little bondo and violla. If you are going to re-gel the bondo may be a bad idea. I dont have a clue if you can gel over body filler or not.

finished the repair...fixed the damage and then capped it with a stainless steel cap that rolls over the two halves of the hull and top and hidden by the rub rail...not bad huh...
