    Default old metal flake

Have a 1978 young blood with blue sliver metal flake. Would like to clear coat the top but how can i tell if its paint or gel. Does it make a different with the clear you use.

I know paint smells different from gel when you sand it, if its the original color it is probably gel coat. If it is gel why not clear it with clear gel coat mixed 50/50 with Prestec or similar product? Stuff sands out real nice.

Any pics? You say blue silver??
Some times if it was blue to start with and had 8000 buff jobs on it? It would have gone down threw the clear and took off the color from the flake making it silver.. Where are you located?
