    Default gel goat over metal

i asked this question at another site.

I have a set of aluminum gas tanks that are powder coated. I want to ether re powder coat or gel coat to match color on boat.

will gel coat work for what i want to do? some flexing of the tanks but no more than the flexing on a boat?

    what do you think???

    Thanks

If your only goal is to color match your existing gel, i wouldn't bother. Although it would work, gelcoat is extra work to achieve a desired gloss finish, and really isn't required for such an application.

Personally I would re-powdercoat in a generic color (like silver, white or black) if you can't get a close color match to your Gel. (I did my tanks in white)

If color match is important to you, I believe 2k paint would be your best option.
