    Default Graphite Cleanup

Got the Flatty turned over and am prepping it for paint. Previous owner had the bottom speed coated with graphite, I'd like to remove it and just go with paint. Before any sanding on the bottom, the whole thing gets a thorough wash and wipe down with wax remover. This surface prep and wax remover is basically just a thinner and starts cleaning off the graphite, that's good, however I am going through a lot of it. I'd prefer to wipe it off rather than sand it off, that way it doesn't get ground into the gel coat. Any suggestions on what's the best solvent to use? Mineral spirits, MEK, Lacquer thinner, Xylene, Toluene, etc. Also I don't want to mess up the gel coat or the fiberglass. If need be I'll just keep buying the Wax remover but it is real slow going.

Thanks for the suggestion. About an hour, couple of beers and a pile of rags and this is the result. I was actually done before I had a chance to read SteveO's suggestion or any of the worthless comments. Thanks, tomorrow.... We Sand.
