bow rail removal
im looking to remove the bow rail on my 21 ft.its original gel coat.the bolt holes are in the pinstriping prob 4 different colors whats the best way to do this ???
the short, simple way is to make alum. or s.s. plates the same size/shape as the footplate on the b.r. and cover them with that. Polish or coat them to look as good as possible and call it done.
The other way (harder, longer, more expensive etc.) is to fill and touch up as you have hinted at so to speak. Have the footplates created a large depression in the surface? Are there cracks radiating out from the bolt holes? What condition is the gel in? Is it a newer boat with clear over the colors in the mold or an older boat with just colored gel and no clear? How do you want it to look when done, factory orig.? or will something lesser be acceptable? Are you wanting to do this yourself or have it done?have some pics. to aid in the process? many ways to skin the cat, just trying to get a better idea of how to proceed with your application.
