Default Instead of speedcoat for the bottom of a flat

What is the best thing to do to the bottom paint/clear, instead of using speed coat?

First off could you be more specific and what I mean by that is ....................................are you trying to get a surface that compare's to Speed coat or just a painted surface because in my opinion Speed coat is a waste of money considering wet sanding the bottom of the hull or running surface can and will give you as much or more ( speed ) for less money then Speed coat

Just wondering if there is a way to sand the clear on the running surface to rough it up and make it work.......

Speed coat or bottom prepping should be a last trick in the bag, have you straight edged the bottom to see if you would even benefit?

What grit would you recommend for that OG? Do you sand in a certain pattern or just parallel to the running surface?

It is all good Ken and to tell you the truth I have been gone and refused to get caught up with vacation time using a PC....... if you know what I mean.................... JET JUNKY , I apologize for not getting back with you sooner, and to tell you the truth i have done power boats in #800 #1000 #1200 depending on the boat & customer with a few Sail boats thrown in for good measure ( race ) done in # 1500 always using a Jitter Bug sometimes hand sanding if need be for those hard to get at places .
